I see everyone wants to always talk about the PS4 and xbox 720 now, but since we know so much about them now, let's begin to speculate on the PS5 and Xbox 1440.

I'm going to guess PS5 doesn't use a disc drive anymore; controllers are obsolete and only virtual 3D devices are used; 5GHz Cell 3 processor; 32GB DDR5 3334MHz Ram; 5TB Hard drive; 12x 4.0 USB drives; and a 8GB dedicated graphics card.

As for Xbox 1440 i'll guess it still uses a disc drive, as M$ has been a generation behind so far in the input device area; they will likely use Kinect 3 and go without controllers; 4GHz processor; 16GB DDR4 2500MHz Ram; 500GB Hard drive; 4x USB 3.0 drives; and 4GB dedicated graphics card.

What do you all expect to see in 3-4 years when PS5 and Xbox 1440 are released?

This is the main reason I do not play the game. The hit detection = pure garbage.

Toxic-Seahorse

Okay at least i'm not the only one. I don't know anyone else who plays, but the hit detection is literally so bad i'm going to resell the game right away. I can't handle it any longer. Not to mention only 1/10 games or so actually comes down to the wire. Most are utter blowouts.

You can't resell BF3, it's linked to your Origin account...

Yes you can... I got the disc free and paid the $15 (or whatever it costs) for the activation code. I should be able to recoup my loss.

I have literally never played a game with more insonsistent hit shots.  It's very common to shoot someone 10-15 times before they see you, then they turn and insta-kill you with a pistol.

I have literally never played a game with more insonsistent hit shots.  It's very common to shoot someone 10-15 times before they see you, then they turn and insta-kill you with a pistol.  It's very common to shoot a tank in the front 3-4 times and not disable it, yet the other tank shoots you 2 times and you're destroyed.  It's very common for a game to end 500+-0.  It's very common to be in a game where the winning side has 3-4 more players, and the game does nothing to balance it.  Does anyone else notice these issues, or is it just me?  I use a wired ethernet connection with 15mbps+. I mention that because I know people will simply say it's lag.

He makes a lot of good points, ripping MS for how they have handled "success" which is more attributable to Sony's failures than anything.

Thoughts?

My thoughts?: Told you so. Been saying for years that the Xbox 360 has no direction or vision. Micro$oft and their crazy CEO are driving that company into the ground. Sell off all MSFT stock ASAP and invest in to SNE if you want to save your money. Sony is going to rise again while M$ dies.

I remember endless debates about 360 being equal to PS3. Just wait for Rage and Gears 3 we were told. In the end though none of these games topped the PS3 exclusives.

The most technically impressive moments this gen were:

1. Chronos' hands in GOW3

2. That tank in KZ3

3. Uncharted - the plane

Great post. Couldn't agree more. Been saying the PS3 was the most powerful for years. The Cell looked like a bad choice at first to some (not me, I remained loyal), but it turned out to be the PS3s greatest feature. I love Sony.

Apple is watching

[quote="Nat Brown"]I was a founder of the original xBox project at Microsoft and gave it its name. Almost 14 years after the painful, pointless, and idiotic internal cage-match to get it started and funded, the hard selling of a compelling and lucrative living-room product to Bill (and then Steve as he began to take over), a product that consumers would want and love and demand, I am actually still thrilled to see how far it has come, how many installed units it has, how it is crushing its original console competitors, how the brand has grown and endured, and especially how great the games have become.

But the past 5 years, and the last year in particular, have been simply painful to watch. Coasting on past momentum. Failing to innovate and failing to capitalize on innovations like Kinect. Touting strategic and market success when youre just experiencing your competitors stumbling failure (yes, Sony, Nintendo you are, Im afraid, stumbling failures). A complete lack of tactical versus strategic understanding of the long game of the living room. It culminated for me in recent coverage1 of interviews with Yusef Mehdi and Nancy Tellem and reports of the goals of a new LA xBox studio to create interactive content.

Which brings us to

Apple is already a games competitor broadly, even if Apple-TV isnt yet a game platform or a console. Mobile generally and iPad specifically have grown the total hours of game play and grown the overall game market. Only in the last 18-24mo has that overall growth turned from a segment-expanding rising tide to a tsunami swamping the console game vendor profit boats hitched to the docks. It is accelerating. Apple, if it chooses to do so, will simply kill Playstation, Wii-U and xBox by introducing an open 30%-cut app/game ecosystem for Apple-TV. I already make a lot of money on iOS I will be the first to write apps for Apple-TV when I can, and I know Ill make money. I would for xBox if I could and I knew I would make money. Maybe a console-capable Apple-TV isnt $99, maybe its $199, and add another $79 for a controller. The current numbers already say a lot, even with Apple-TV not already an open console: 5.3M sold units in 2012, 90% year-over-year growth vs. xBox 360 about 9M units in 2012, 60% YoY decline.musicalmac

Much more in the blog post, another delicious opinion regarding the state of the traditional console industry -- and how Apple is always there, watching, waiting.... Remember what Gabe said not too long ago about the AppleTV? How interesting we get another opinion that's focused on the game console and not the PC.

Delicious.

Tell that to the PS4. Good luck! LOL

Yes,yes it has,in the mind and hearts of every fanboy sony drone on systemwars, the console isn't even out yet and it has won, that is how badass playstation is.

my brain hurts.

skilfulgary
PS4 has not won yet, but it's 99% the way there. With the Cell 2 processor, 8GB of 1667MHz ram, a 2GB dedicated ATI graphics card, 6x 3.0USB ports, blu-ray 2.0, FREE PSN, and the best exclusive games on the market, Sony has positioned itself to dominate yet another generation of gaming. Xbox 720 is sure to fail. Wii U already failed.

EA is garbage.  They know nothing.  PS4 will definitely be backwards compatible and will be the greatest console in history.  Sony knows they have to put 100% into this next console, so to imagine what they can do is kind of scary.  I'd invest in Sony stock NOW before it skyrockets to $150 a share.

[QUOTE="j_assassin"]who cares, as long as m$ makes money, killzowned24
thats the problem.Only thing MS care about is money.

Yeah, forget M$. They just want profits. Sony wants to give back to the players/community. They even took a major hit on the PS3 so we could all enjoy the best gaming console in the world which featured the Cell processor, blu-ray, built-in wifi, and a controller with built-in rechargeable battery. Xbox offered NONE of that.
