@cursealoud @gamergath Actually I think a Dinosaur would have fitted into the game perfectly, but that's just me.

@ahchx @zpluffy zpluffy is simply pointing out that having a female in a dominant, action-oriented role is still challenging to a lot of people, even in the year 2013, and that would more than likely have an impact on sales. Did you not see the news article the other day showing the percentage of Mass Effect players who chose to play as a female Shepard? Just under 20%. All of the time and money spent hiring a separate voice actor, coming up with gender specific dialogue options, making a separate Shepard character configurator, all for less than 20% of players. I imagine those statistics will weigh in on a lot of developers' decisions, and publishers too.

I definitely agree with the comments made about co-op, I think co-op (without the painfully bad narrative) would fit far better with Battlefield than an 'on rails' sequence of events. Battlefield is about exploring large-scale environments, reacting to the enemy's tactics as a squad (or a team, if you're lucky) to win. It's not about watching the game unfold for you with your only input being a mouse-click on cue in a predetermined sequence. Leave that to Call of Duty.

@neonfrax2 That's the games industry for you, an unsustainable downward spiral of stagnating sales Vs. rising costs and expectations. On top of that, I think they may have been optimistic that a game bearing the name 'Tomb Raider' would sell 5 million units. There hasn't been a decent Tomb Raider game since the last reboot (and that was 7 years ago), and really, Lara hasn't lived up to her 'landmark' status since Tomb Raider II (and that was 17 years ago). As good as 'Tomb Raider' is, the name just doesn't mean anything to consumers anymore. I think Crystal Dynamics and Square would do well to release single-player DLC in the short term, and use this reboot as a springboard to an even better sequel in the long run.

"Everyone dies, everyone dies! Killed the operator...but he wasn't a smooth operator now was he guys!"

Comic gold. I wish Danny would stop calling in to work sick, this is the only Gamespot show I can stand watching. Well, that and 'Falling in Love With Lara/Chivalry'...

Some more tombs would be nice to explore, but DLC is overrated IMO. The only single player game I've played with "necessary" dlc would be Fallout 3, and even then it felt cheap to force players to buy DLC to continue playing. Any other DLC that is worth getting is for multi-player games, so it's no great loss in this instance. I'd rather have a great, complete experience than have to keep forking out to get the experience I could have had if DLC didn't exist, and Tomb Raider certainly delivered a great experience.

Anyone wanting to check out this game should head to the Through the Looking Glass community forums and get the patches there, they will enable proper DirectX/D3D support, and widescreen.
