Well, I declare a war on the war on drugs (That's what we do right? Declare war on things we find offensive?)Locke562

Apparently so.

At any rate, if you want to sound super serious, that's what you do. :D

I don't understand what Iran's protests and the Second Amendment to US Constitution have to do with each other. Please elaborate.

Congratulations: you developed and changed an opinion on a controversial issue based on information gathered by talking to complete strangers over XboxLive (that don't sound like addicts, what's more!) and reading websites that are entirely pro-legalisation rather than looking up a neutral source. You must be so proud.

So change my mind...

How? Would you like me to look up a few nonusers, give you their opinions, and link you to theantidrug.com?

I'm a nonuser who thinks it should be legal. Do I fit in anywhere?

[QUOTE="Setsa"]On a sociological plane, society isn't ready to introduce such a substance into the market. In a good 15 years or so, the mentality of the general populace may have changed enough to allow the responsible use of the narcotic, albeit even now people abuse legal narcotics for a fix....LikeHaterade

What is the main issue of marijuana that is preventing society's readiness for it? Effects of alcohol are far more potent and we have alcoholics in our country today.

The war on drugs has people convinced that it's a "gateway" to harder drugs and that it's highly addictive.

I for one have been desensitized by images I've seen on the internet. I remember when the movie Gladiator came out I felt nauseous watching it, but now I can look at gore pictures without flinching(not that I go looking for them :P ).

While I will never smoke, it should be legal simply because it's not harmful enough to warrant the tax dollars to takes to arrest and incarcerate people for abusing it. If I remember, actually, alcohol lobbyists pushed for it to be made illegal.

$8.50 on weeknights and $10.50 on weekends. The 10:00 shows are ususally only $5.00 and I can go to the drive in movie theater and see two new movies for $6.00 a person. The downside is that you're stuck in your car. I'm actually thinking about going Friday night; I can see Terminator at 9:30 and Star Trek at 11:40 all for the price of one ticket.

[QUOTE="Katafran"]And be honest, which would scare you more, a woman with her keys between her finger, or a woman who pulls a pistol out of her purse? I don't want to have to shoot it, but I will if necessary.Andrew_Xavier
A woman with keys between her fingers would scare me more, a woman who pulls a gun would only strike me as being pathetic.
As a woman I don't even want to give a threatening person the chance to get near me because I know that my odds of winning, or even surviving a fight with a man are quite slim.Katafran
So, your theory is that all woman are useless and can't stand up to a man in a fight? I think you should speak for yourself, my gf does the same martial arts I do, and plays rugby, she'd kick most people's asses, male or female. It's sad that you feel the need to claim an entire gender is weak as a defence for owning a pathetic weak weapon.

I was speaking for myself. Not the use of the pronoun "I". Furthermore, I'm not defending owning a gun; it's my right. So when your house gets broken into, you better hope that they don't have a gun. As for me, I know that I can take care of myself unless they attack me with a rocket launcher. What's funny to me is that I view your opinion as being more aggressive than mine.

[QUOTE="Andrew_Xavier"] According to what? Anyone who needs guns is pathetic and weak. It's simple fact. Any time I see people screaming that guns are necessary, I think 3 things, A. They must be packing nothing in their pants, B. They must really fail at life, and C. They must be beyond useless.

It's a known fact that some people are weaker than others, but to demand that everyone should fight hand to hand is a bit outlandish. As a woman I don't even want to give a threatening person the chance to get near me because I know that my odds of winning, or even surviving a fight with a man are quite slim. Even with other weapons! Yes, I have a stun gun, but I have to get within an arms reach to use it. Yes, I can swing a baseball bat, but I have to get within arms reach. This is why I specifically have a stainless steel gun. I want there to be zero doubt whether or not it's a real gun so that seeing it is a deterrent. And be honest, which would scare you more, a woman with her keys between her finger, or a woman who pulls a pistol out of her purse? I don't want to have to shoot it, but I will if necessary.
