Honey also attracts bears. I prefer to use bees; chases off all but the smartest of wild animals.

I think pot is harmful enough to justify its illegality. Though I'm open to medical marijuana.

-_Rain_-

Fair enough. I however don't think it's any more harmful than alcohol, cigarettes, or cars for that matter. I think it's all about responsibility.

I've never heard a good reason as to why marijuana is a criminal narcotic. Ever. De-criminalize it at the very least. Smoking dope may not be the best idea, but the punishment of jail shouldn't even be an option. There are already far too many people in American prisons, costing around $30,000 a year to keep a single inmate alive. Smoking dope is one of the many criminal offenses I find stupid.

effena

It's a criminal offense because the Alcohol companies didn't want people smoking it instead of drinking, so they lobbied against it and used racism and scare tactics so that congress would vote against it.

That may be true, but I highlighted the key word in my statement :P

Oh I know; I was agreeing with and backing you up. :)

[QUOTE="-_Rain_-"]No. I also saw the part that said you listened to people who didn't seem like potheads over Xboxlive, and I also saw the ridiculously biased drugpolicy link (twice!). I didn't see the rest of your extensive list of sources, though.

-_Rain_-

Your tone seems a bit snarky, and at any rate you haven't offered any evidence, you've only criticized the TC.

Any reasons why YOU think it should remain illegal?

My tone is snarky because I'm annoyed at his using the "I did research!" shield when all he did was ask some users for their opinions and go to a pro-pot website to confirm his own wants, and his double standards in researching the opinion he says he once had when all he seems to want to do is read three sentences before passing judgement.

Well, for future reference, your snarkiness made me want to disregard what you were trying to say. You'll always attract more flies with honey, you know. You seem to have strong viewpoints, and I want to hear them. Please, tell me what your personal thoughts are on this issue.

[QUOTE="Setsa"] Simple: they don't care about the repercussions, only the high received and the times had, which is why I think it may take some time for an effective system to be established.Setsa

Of coarse. Nor do they care about the repercussions of alcohol. There will always be irresponsible users despite the amount of education is out there and the amount of time it has been exposed. That's why we would have laws put in place to punish those that do so.

So you're saying proper sex-ed wouldn't help the reduction of unwanted pregnancies? O.o Education is the answer, the problem now is there's too many pieces of media and idols that glorify weed and brand it "cool" without actually taking a step back and looking at it from all angles. Marijuana may be implemented successfully into the market and mentality of the people on day, but without being informative about the substance on a physical and social plane, people will just keep thinking they're cool for hitting the ganja :o

While you have a valid point, even with all the sex ed in the world, there will still be the people who won't use protection. We absolutely must be informative about marijuana, which we as a society really aren't currently.

[QUOTE="Dalo12345"]

[QUOTE="Setsa"] Technically, it is a gateway drug in a social sense. People are always looking for ways to 1up what they've experienced in the past, and will pursue greater means of ecstasy and exhilaration, it's human nature to do so. The problem arises when someone's ego comes into check and they are deluded to the potential harm that may be caused from different highs, simply because they can perform basic functions whilst high on weed.Setsa

If they hurt themselves being stupid, who cares? It's no reason to punish responsible users.

Then should we not advocate for the legalization of all narcotics, and allow people to pursue stimulation however they wish?

In an ideal world, yes. I believe firmly in personal responsibility. I think people should be able to do whatever they want so long as it doesn't infringe upon the rights of others to the pursuit of happiness. I know, however that our society is currently unable to just let people do as they will.

Negative, I bet it would be the only amendment people knew.

If people don't know the first at the very least than the education system has failed entirely.

[QUOTE="stupid4"]

How is it not true?

LJS9502_basic

Driving under the influence can cause accidents...and yes they happen. Plus, I've known people that steal money to purchase said drug. Thus, it affects others.

Driving while texting causes accidents and people steal money to buy movies. It's all about personal responsibility and that cannot be legislated.
