I like this idea. If done right this movie doesn't have to be about video games it could just as easily be a great animated film with enough for kids and adults to drum up new intrest in the franchise... or it could be a garbage cash in on a declining franchise.
@themaster22 @JOYRIDEME An entire game about boring fetch quests and lame melee combat? It was like all the worst parts of dead rising(a great game) and borderlands(a great game) at once and that's before you get to the sewers and escort missions.
Jesus people got butthurt over this trash? The first dead island was a mediocre game as is so the fact that people defend a sequel that doesn't innovate in the slightest baffles me... but then again some people defend re6
Tom's comments about them not addressing racism really confused me. Sure they could have addressed racism in the game more than they did but what would be the point? The only conclusion about racism you can safely come to is that "it's bad" and unless they can bring something new to the table on that front it just doesn't seem worth addressing to me. As far as I'm concerned the racism only existed to build a stronger sense that it is the early 1900s by showing real world issues from that time. The new movie 42 is actually a perfect example of a movie with nothing new to bring to the table on the topic of racism that addresses it as formulaically as possible.
@Jyakotu I don't like it when people say "gaming is expensive". On a time entertained:dollars spent basis gaming is not very expensive at all. Lets say for example someone has terrible tastes and bough 10 AAA games so far in 2013. Assuming they bought new thats 600 dollars. Those games combined will provide 100s of hours of fun (assuming you bought them because you like them and not because let's say you were forced to buy them as part of a thought experiment). Now this is of course an exaggeration because playing that many games is not part of a balanced social experience but my point still remains that on an "hours of entertainment provided per dollar spent basis" you could and people do way worse and that for anyone with a reliable income gaming is not overwhelmingly expensive.
