I like how the narrator comments about when "in the genre where every other game is trying to emulate the success of Diablo" and then shows Torchlight. You know, the game that was created by half of the team that made the best Diablo game of the three?

/SMH

This game looks super generic too.

I really believe that the "fans" of the game were some of the most ridiculous jackasses ever. Yep, the three endings were a disappointment, but they didn't warrant the kind of outrage nor the threats that were a result of them. It's as if nothing from the start of the first game, up until the ending of the third mattered, and that the enjoyment you had putting potentially hundreds of hours (replays) into existed. Somehow the endings negated all of that? One of the largest overreactions and entitlement issues for gaming in pretty much ever.

Thanks millennials.

@stoneproof:

Only a single game on this list impressed me at all this year, and it wasn't even the best in the series.

The last "good" years for gaming were 2010 - 2013. It's been pretty bad all around this gen aside from a few outliers. Thankfully, it seems like it will pick up drastically between Oct 2016 and March of 2017, literally "starting" the new gen of non boring rehashes and remasters. That is of course if they aren't delayed (again) like pretty much every anticipated game has been for the last few years.

@dashaka:I somewhat agree, but only if you're going into the TV shows expecting it to have the same kind of production as the tentpole films. The shows primarily have little to do with "superpowers" anyway and are more about the realistic aspects of living (within reason of course). Also, if you're looking for a Marvel TV show that has a bunch of special effects, look no further than Marvel's Agent's of S.H.I.E.L.D. They really stepped it up in the second and third seasons.

@bickle2: "one is anime the other is not? How is the medium relevant to story structure and elements?"

/Whoosh. I was just using an example within your example as to why some comparisons are ridiculous.

@bickle2:I guess this is a decent comparison article for the casual observer.

Also, the Cowboy Bebop and Firefly comparison is a bit silly. They are clearly completely different. One is anime, while the other is not! For a more recent example, you should compare Firefly with Dark Matter.

@TruthSerum808:You may want to actually watch the movie again, or for the first time...

@TruthSerum808:Err, you realize that there is a movie called Goldeneye that came out before any of the games, and it featured 006 and 007 working together right? It also happened to be one of the best Bond films in decades (and still the best Brosnan Bond film by a landslide) up until Casino Royale.

The only reason I will bother with this movie at all is because Fassbender is currently one of my favorite actors (his portrayal of Magneto in the last two FOX X-Men movies was incredible). I'm not sure I would even pay (only $5) to see this though, and I'd probably wait until it was out on Blu-ray. Good actors and good director can only do so much if the screenplay sucks, or the effects actually look like a videogame (see: Warcraft). Pretty much all of the Assassin's Creed games after the second have been mostly the same thing each year, and if Ubisoft can't even get creative with the franchise, I have no idea why they believe they will do well with an actual movie.

They won't be bucking any trends with this, and the only thing this is going to do for Fassbender's career is: nothing. He'll get a paycheck and that's about it.
