Where the hell is the option for that camera anyway? Did they simply remove it at launch? Because it's nowhere in the actual camera options now. You have "Chase", "Wall Assist" and "Manual" and none look like that. Also, there's no way to delete characters now other than deleting your entire profile for the game. WTF?

@Atzenkiller: Eh, there are plenty of things in the game that could be considered "hard", but I think you're exaggerating. It's nowhere near being "sadistic" and if anything, is actually closer to Dark Souls than not (for a JRPG: a genre that is usually mindless and easy to get overpowered in quickly).

Hell, my now 62 year old aunt bought and finished it at release on her own and without any kind of guide, and she is by no means a "hardcore gamer". The biggest hurdle of the game is patience, and trial and error. If you're one to easily get discouraged from dying, or simply messing up, then it might seem harder than it actually is.

Having a good party composition is key, and the somewhat obtuse (at first) fusion system is essentially the only real challenge, but there's been really great fusion guides around now for almost fifteen years, and it's not terribly difficult to make some powerful early demons. For instance the Daisoujou...considered top-tier for the vast majority of the game can be had relatively early and will make the game much easier all around.

This is in the top three greatest PS2 RPGs and easily my favorite in terms of atmosphere. Even though I've been able to play mine at a higher resolution through emulation for years now, I can't wait to get a legitimate higher resolution version and whatever other new features they decide to add. Having said that, why is this being called a remake, when it's just a remaster? Did they actually update the engine somehow that I'm not seeing in the trailer? Adding voice acting doesn't really make it so much a remake as simply an update.

@bbq_R0ADK1LL: I started over after eight hours to play Death March, and there was nothing about Death March that made the combat more engaging or interesting. All it did was turn what was already weak, into tedium. There wasn't more thought put into playing on that mode, simply more repetition that extended already lame engagements. I keep seeing "Death March is totally different!" being repeated a lot online as though that fixes the underlying issues with the combat. It had nothing to do with the difficulty. It just felt bad in execution.

@rebornblood: Dying Light was great for the atmosphere and parkour. The combat was a means to an end, but no, I didn't find it enjoyable.

@Barighm: Personally, I thought TW2 was a superior game overall. Mainly because TW3 went "open world" and to justify having such a large map means they had to fill it with "generic_stuff_to_do" like every other open-world game. Just because certain side quests were better than what you would typically find in your average RPG doesn't make the open-world aspect any good, but like you said, people gobble that crap up, and anymore genres that are far better not being open-world get sucked into the fad.

@chriss_m:

"For the time"? You mean 2015, when countless third-person action games that had far superior combat had existed for years? It was an improvement compared to the typical Eurojank games, but it was still bad.

The reason to play through the game until the end was the story and characters. The actual "gameplay" was only serviceable at best.

It's first-person, so the melee will be junk regardless, just like every single other first-person game that has melee combat. They are all stuck in "Hexen" mode and haven't really made much progress since 1995. Doesn't matter how much lipstick you put on it, and even if melee ends up being "good" for destroying enemies, it will still feel like garbage compared to any third-person action game, or the guns.

Somehow, instead of actually improving the trash combat that was in TW3, they decided to go backwards.

@kaminobenimizu: Well, we're almost two months out since the release. Having finished it twice, I can say two things. 1) The combat isn't like Bloodborne at all, aside from it not having aerial combos and 2) The level design is nothing like Bloodborne other than both having you warp to other areas through a hub. Oh boy. It was mostly just a bunch of PR nonsense. The combat is OK, but also hampered by a horrible upgrade system, and Kratos is also wearing horse blinders 24/7 thanks to the terrible FoV. Decent combat ruined by the camera.
