@kaminobenimizu: Ironically, they just announced a "Bloodborne" influence, although it has more to do with the level design than anything else. We'll see how much of this is just PR shit though. Oooh look, a shortcut and a hub, therefore it was inspired by Bloodborne!!!!!

@ndarker:Gamespot had lousy video reviews in the beginning, and they didn't truly shine until Kevin VanOrd started doing them. Once he left, they steadily started going back downhill, and we're right back to where we started in 2006.

I can't say that I ever watched video game reviews to be "entertained" however, but a little conviction and not sounding like you're speed reading the written review would help.

@Messenger360p: I feel like a hypocrite even bothering to reply to this here, but everyone should just be using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) with Windows 10 anyway. It prevents Windows 10 from ever auto updating graphics card drivers again once you run it the first time.

Gamespot isn't really a good side for anything PC hardware related. No idea why they are basically going out of their way to throw everything and the kitchen sink articles here now either, most of which they don't, nor have ever specialized in. Reading about one of the most mundane topics ever (yay a new driver was released!) on a historically console oriented gaming site is the last thing I expected to see. This site pretty much offers nothing anymore.

@thekittenofwar:No, his list was mostly accurate. The skill ceiling on everything he listed is pretty much NIL on the default difficulties, and it's because they focus on graphics, and "storytelling" (because they are trying so hard to push their scripts that Hollywood rejected) on top of making it so that it's super hard for anyone to hit a fail state. Gaming in general right now is the best it's ever been, and also the worst. Not only do console "AAA" games take forever to release anymore, they almost always end up being a disappointment because of how much they focus on spectacle over gameplay. Indie games are at the opposite end. They focus on gameplay and more often than not (with exceptions of course) look like garbage. On top of that, it's rare to even see an indie with an original idea. Remember all of the mid-tier games that had "pretty good" graphics on top of "pretty good" gameplay? Those barely exist now, and they flourished during the PS2 and prior eras.

@master9821:All of the typical "AAA" crap that really is just hold forward, hit X and watch your "cinematic experiences"? They truly bore me to tears, which is why so far I only own three console exclusves for this gen. PCs used to be able to produce the graphics and the experiences. It wasn't limited to one or the other in a lot of the bigger budgeted games.

@jlenoconel:Did you even read what was written? I already play on the consoles AND on PC. I'm basically just complaining about how the PC is nothing like it once was in terms of PC exclusives, in either concept or as the platform to bring about graphical showcases that the consoles couldn't match. Since last gen though, when most developers that "wanted to make money" abandoned ship and headed into multiplat or console only territory, you either had to play their games on the console, OR you ended up with a port that while was often serviceable on PC, *and typically* performed better, it would have been even better had the PC been the primary platform in the first place. Consoles used to get PC ports, anymore the PCs get the console ports and most "PC exclusives" are the jank in this article that can run on any decade old toaster, or they are an MMORPG, RTS or MOBA. That's it. PC power is pretty much squandered now when it comes to exclusives. Not even Star Citizen is going to be worth the price of admission, once it finally ships.

Sounds amazing? Sounds just like yet another most boring game ever. I can't think of a single procedurally generated game that wasn't boring to play after the first few hours.

As someone who's been console gaming since '85 (and playing in the arcades, as well has having a Pong machine much earlier than that) and then also on PC since '97, all I can say about the "indie" games is: so what? Most of them are garbage tier that no one would bother with unless they've exhausted all other avenues, or really must play a game, but can't afford the $10 - $20 more for a full price game. Only a select few indie games per year amount to more than garbage filler, or games trying to relive the 8-bit and 16-bit days. If I really wanted to play those same games again, I'd just play the originals. I love playing games on my PC, but only maybe 10% of them are ever indies, or exclusves anymore.

Pretty much the only game listed here that I care about in the slightest is Divinity: OS 2. I can't see anyone wanting to buy a PC to play any of the other games, or feeling left out if they don't. Just urgh.
