Definitely go with Tales of the Abyss. Abyss and Eternia are actually the two best games in the series.

Anyone else using a 22" monitor with a 1680x1050 natural resolution but can't actually run 1680x1050? I have to run 1440x900 as a good portion of the right side of the screen gets cut off at 1680x1050. I bought a cheap imitation cable off eBay, would this be the cause?

It was the only reason I put up with Assassin's Creed.

Do these lines stick around, as in, are they actually white lines or is the picture tearing. There have been a few issues with games tearing at certain resolutions, I can't think of anything else that would create this over your two systems, so I'd try a different resolution with a game that's particularly bad.

It's a turn based RPG, similar to those of the snes era. It also has a lot of puzzle elements revolving around the in-game worlds' magic system.

Hmmm, it could have something to do with the technology and trying to keep the systems affordable. It is progressive when you think about it, the SP was lit by side lights, I'm not sure about the micro, then the DS was backlit and the Lite has a brighter backlight. I'm not fully up to date on the history of lighting screens though.

I have a phat, I considered upgrading because of the better UMD door but figured that really wasn't worth the price of upgrading. Does the 3000 still have this supposed interlacing problem?

I didn't think much of Tales of the World 2 but I see your point about the developers. Even so I don't think they should have dropped Tempest to an escort title. Rebirths combat is surprisingly really cool, the force cube is a particularly interesting concept, does each corner provide benefits the more you use them and are they stat based or powerbased? But I've been thinking of getting ToD2 on PS2 instead, for when Phantasian Productions finish the translation patch, and apparently they also suggested a possible PS2 translation for Rebirth recently, so maybe I should have gotten that on PS2 too.
