Well, I am actually an older gamer, as far as it goes (37). Been playing games since Atari.

I was always a Nintendo supporter up until the Wii, when they introduced the motion-sensing controls and tailored everything to it- even games that didn't make sense to use it.

Really, all I want with every new Nintendo console is to be able to play new incarnations of my old favorite titles (Mario, Zelda, Metroid)with current generation hardware with a normal controller. The motion-sensing Wii-mote and now the tablet-controller were/are unnecessary. They would be fine as an add-on for games that make sense to use them (Wii-mote = parlor games), but forcing it on the gamer with the majority of their library doesn't work for me.

I swear, if Nintendo just brought out a normal console, with a normal controller at a price point beneath MS and PS with a strong line-up of their bread-and-butter titles, they would be in a much better position than they are now.

Do VC games from the Wii carry over to the Wii-U?

Is it possible to forego the main controller and just use the pro controller for most games? I really don't like the main controller.

Well that is what I feared. The notion that those games are temporary really puts a damper on downoading games. It supports that gamers should strive to continue buying physical copies.

I mean, I have downloaded some 50 games...

XBLA downloaded games do not transfer with your account to the XB1.

What happens say, a few years from now when your 360 harddrive dies with all your downloaded games on it? I guess the real question is, do all those digital games have an expiration date- the date when they stop supporting the 360, like when they stopped supporting the original XBox? Is there going to be a time when you are no longer able to redownload games?

I always wondered about this, because my friend had downloaded Double Dragon when it first came out. His HD died and when he went to download it again, it was no longer available? I would think there could be legal issues involved because I don't recall there ever being a clause about XBLA titles no longer being available.

Then again, I could have all this worng because I am not the most savy when it comes to this type of thing.

Yes it is a dealbreaker and here's why-

There are games from the past that I love and will always want to dip into now and again. The PS3 didn't play PS2 games. The PS4 isn't going to play either. If you are a gamer who wants access to your entire library, you must have 3 consoles hooked up at this point. The next-next generation you will need four. Stacks of consoles. If you own other brands (360, Wii), it can get beyond ridiculous.

There is no excuse. Atthis point with the available technology that they shouldn't be able to make a console that is FULLY backward compatible.

With the "confirmed" rumors that the 720 "always connected" feature and now this...it looks like it is finally going to happen. I have been playing video games since the before the NES and this is the next generation that I don't think I will be buying into.

This is so bizarre that it has actually thrown my perspective of reality into question.

95% of your consumer base says they will not buy your product if you change it in such a way...and MS's response is to....DO IT ANYWAY FOR LITTLE ACTUAL BENEFIT.

Don't care for the bulk of the exclusives.

Their retro-game library available for download sucks compared to that of the 360. In fact, in general, for my states, the 360 library blows away the PS3.

Don't like the interface.

I used to play the original all the time in the arcades- one of my favorites. You know you have problems when "updating" of the graphics looks worse than the original, 25-year old game. Would have been a day-1 buy for me, but not after seeing the video. What a travesty.

No buy from me.

It's going to take a lot more than discount price for Nintendo to win me back after the horribleness that was the Wii.
