Yeah, this game is 5 years old, but I still find it awesome. What's your friend code? Mine is 3223 8404 4184, and no hacks, although snaking is alright. I wouldn't mind races.

Apollo Flame from Megaman Star Force 2/3. First of all, that fire barrier he has that disappears when you hit him, but he won't take any damage, then you can hit him for some damage. But the barrier regenrates every few seconds. Secondly, he has a "Solar Flare" attack where flames can strike all 3 areas of your side, and it pierces through your shield (WTF?!) I mean, what kind of an attack is that, if an attack hits all areas of your side you should be able to block it. Other games? Not much really... seeing as how most RPGs are turn-based and if you grind any boss is easy, but Megaman Star Force is action-paced, as in real-time, so it is a completely different story.

I'm still inclined to play RPGs because of the story, graphics, and whatever else makes them a good game, but it always annoys me how the gameplay requires absolutely no skill and is repetitive. I wish RPGs didn't have leveling systems, and you could just play through them using the skill you've learned. You only need one thing to win battles, experience. If you can't win a boss fight it isn't because he is tricky like in any other game, it is because you haven't fought enough repetitive battles. Go fight a hundred more battles and waste an hour of your life then re-fight the boss and he will become easy. Poz_McAids
Planning beforehand, stocking up supplies is a skill... If you mean the turn-based combat where a higher level opponent will obviously triumph over a lower levelled one, try Acion-RPGs where the battles are action-paced, like Megaman Battle Network/Megaman Star Force, and there isn't even a level up feature there, you get stronger battle cards as you go along, and it is up to you on how to use them in synergy with other battle cards to perform amazing combos. And by action-paced I mean real-time.

For me it is Megaman Star Force series. Here is what Gamespot said at the conclusion of Megaman Star Force 3: "If you've never played a Star Force game or if it has been a while since you've picked up the Battle Network series, then you might find some fun here. The solid battle mechanics and satisfying boss encounters will probably be enough to pull you through the inane plot and aged visuals. If you've played any recent entries in the series, you'll want to avoid this shameless retread of an already tiresome formula." Apparently, they are very wrong. Megaman Star Force 3 has a user average of 8.8, meaning to say lots of people enjoyed it. The critics are being a bit too factual, it's not just GameSpot, IGN and a few others are doing the same thing. Megaman fans are playing Megaman games because they are Megaman fans, if you know what I mean. The same reason most Pokemon fans will buy at least one game of every generation, because they are Pokemon fans. The same holds for Megaman Star Force series. Gamespot does have a point about recycled audio and visuals, but the gameplay is what keeps the players hooked. Hundreds of Battle Cards to collect, satisfying boss fights because some of them are insanely hard, and the battles are action-paced, which is completely different from standard turn-based RPGs. And although it is a double-edged sword, it is what puts Megaman Battle Network/Star Force games in a class of their own.

you bet!!!! most people see it as a simple game to defeat the other monster with your monsters, but they dont realize that is one if not the most mathematic filled game, i mean the damage calculation, the EV's and IV's along with the nature calculation, the pkmn tiers (something i dont really support but oh well) and all the tactics possible that you could think off and create with pokemon it is as you said just one of the best games in history

You are right there, but I personally prefer Megaman Battle Network/Megaman Star Force because the battles happen to be action-paced, to keep you from falling asleep. *Ahem* back to topic. Acquiring all 493 will take a loooong while, and it's the feeling of accomplishment you get when you train a Pokemon to level 100 with perfect moveset (Assuming you didn't hack Rare Candies) that makes Pokemon so enjoyable.

[QUOTE="DavidIsOverHere"]I could easily put this on PS3, Nintendo Wii, PSP etc. but I put this on Nintendo DS category because most of the games that aren't well-received that I like happen to be on the Nintendo DS.Pixel-Perfect

You're Looking for General Games discussion, and I think there's a recently active thread that's pretty much the same as this.

Oh thanks. I am pretty new here, so I still forget where is where.

I could easily put this on PS3, Nintendo Wii, PSP etc. but I put this on Nintendo DS category because most of the games that aren't well-received that I like happen to be on the Nintendo DS. Mine is: Legend of Dragoon (PS1) Score: 6.4 Megaman Star Force 1 (NDS) Score: 6.0 Megaman Star Force 2 (NDS) Score: 5.5 Megaman Star Force 3 (NDS) Score: 5.5 The critics here said this for Megaman Star Force 3: "If you've never played a Star Force game or if it has been a while since you've picked up the Battle Network series, then you might find some fun here. The solid battle mechanics and satisfying boss encounters will probably be enough to pull you through the inane plot and aged visuals. If you've played any recent entries in the series, you'll want to avoid this shameless retread of an already tiresome formula." Apparently, they are wrong, the average user score is 8.8, which means majority of the people like it. Of course, all games come with faults, but most people including me are willing to overlook their faults because it's Gameplay is pretty good. But on the other hand, the critics are more experienced, but I guess it doesn't matter what the critics say so long as you enjoy the game. How about you guys? Feel free to say which game that isn't well-received by critics that you like, and state your reasons.

Who cares if people say Pokemon is childish, they just say it to look "cool" and "hardcore" while in reality they are possibly missing out on one of the best games ever created, and besides, it's only the anime that gives Pokemon it's childish image. I also happen to be an active member of Smogon University, a place for competetive Pokemon battlers, so I am pretty knowledgeable about EVs, IVs, and other in-game mechanics that non-competetive battlers may not be aware of.

Anyone here happens to play these series? I personally enjoyed them a lot. I mainly play Star Force 2, and I am still finishing up leftover jobs like collecting all Battle Cards. What hooks me to this game is, it is an RPG, and I always liked them, but Megaman Star Force happens to be in a class of it's own, with not gaining EXP to level up, and battles are turn-based, they are real-time, making bosses either a piece of cake or a pain in the ass, but nonetheless unique. Wonder why the critics have to bash on it a lot though. You guys?
