I would definitely pay for Premium again. The way I see it is that Battlefield is a unique FPS in that there is not another game out that is quite like it. Others have tried but failed.. Some of the criticism that they have received is deserved, some not... but you cannot deny that at the end of the day the game is a hell of a lot of fun.
With that said, I just wish that they would be a little more dynamic in the game modes... i.e. maybe add a couple capture points to the CTF maps. Maybe instead of flags give each team MCOM's to defend and throw in some capture points.
@Lejonet731 It comes WITH the connect.. doesnt say you have to use it. Also, the tech in the current Kinnect is pretty old so I imagine that it will be much better than what you are used to. Also, your friend is an idiot. They are not going to restrict a budget gaming system like that... its not a PC and the threat of piracy isnt what it is on PC systems. Just no...
I really don't get why I see all of the crying... what is so bad in these rumors? A new controller? I guarantee that the new controller will be extremely similar to the current one except it uses a different wireless tech (probably bluetooth) and may have some sort of axis support similar to the ps3 controller. The bluetooth would explain why current controllers would not work with the new XBOX.
I know in general people hate change even if its the smallest detail, but common have an open mind. See what the real specs are. So far this systems seems pretty bad ass if the rumors are true..
@JimmeyBurrows I dont think that feature was explained fully... you're right in the fact that pausing one game to play another is probably pointless for 90% of the gamers. However, pausing a game to jump on the internet real quick, watch a video or a movie, or some other app that will be out isn't so far fetched and IMO is pretty handy. Computer systems have been able to do this for a long time so its really not "new" and not at all that pointless if you think about it.
... Then racing games will be blamed for people speeding. People fighting will be blamed on NHL games and MMA. Why stop there, lets just ban hockey, MMA, and football while we are at it because... those are violent games that are acted out in real life. Lets ban NASCAR and racing in general because people may feel that if they can do it so can I in my Prius.
As ridiculous as my argument is, so is the argument that violent video games causes violence. Sandy Hook, Columbine and even the Aurora shooter played FPS games. Media spun it as that may have somehow trained them to kill people... give me a break. Its all people pointing the finger at something else because they need something to blame other than mental illness. So my argument of I speed because I play racing games is the same argument they are using.
I can see the argument... why make violence for violence sake. However, it seems that with recent events there is a group of people that wants us to be a cookie cutter society. " Its not the psychopath that kills people, its the gun, videogame, movie.. etc etc etc". I really despise the fact that people seem to more and more point the finger at material things as the problem when in fact its other issues. Why let your 8 year old play GTA, why keep guns in the house with someone that is severely mentally unstable. There are things that can be done without pushing everyone into a society where all we can view is cupcakes and flowers, and re runs of Barney. There is nothing wrong with someone playing battlefield or any other game. At some point the onus needs to be on guardians and parents and have the censor what is appropriate for people they watch over. Case and point... if someone seems to have anger / violence issues, as a guardian the last thing I would give them is a copy of Gears of War & GTA.
I think this may be the last interation of consoles as we know it and we will see more of a streaming service when it comes to games. Sure that is a ways off, but its certainly coming down the pipe. The technology is there, however since the government screwed up the classification of broadband back in the late 90's and early 2000's it has set us back some. By the time the PS4 and Xbox whatever is at the end of its life cycle then there will be enough bandwidth available to enough people to make it worth while.
With that said, I am hoping they make these systems somewhat modular so people can upgrade them (i.e. better graphics cards). It would save the company money as well as the consumer.
People may huff at this, but two things need to be realized:
1. ARM processors are the future. Before you flame me and say your x64 processor blows the pants off ARM chips, which is true to some regard. They are not power efficient and there are things that ARM chips can do that traditional processors cant. Dont believe me? A well known IT company has put 4000 servers in a single rack using ARM chips. Yes, I didnt mistype... 4000 servers in a SINGLE rack using ARM processors. I am not saying traditional CPU's will go away, not yet anyway, but for a pure gaming platform for a handheld device... why not us ARM chips?
2. Android is going to take over. Why? Because its not proprietary and its not un organized like Linux. Why do you think Microsoft is in such a panic... its not because of Apple, its because of Google.
Say what you will but I bet this device will be one bad ass piece of gaming tech.
Wow... actually coming out with a map pack. Do they not know that everybody hates this game?? These people will literally sell ice cubes to Eskimos and sand to Arabs...
