Before you vanish into the abyss of the non-internets, give me pointers on how to make tons of cash in GW2.

i never did either, but i've heard farming the silverwastes (there's a whole proper way of doing it) and tarir (if you have the expansion, and again, there's a specific way of doing it) nets you a lot of gold via stuff you can sell on the trading post, like materials and rare weapons. salvaging any leather gear you get is recommended as well, because leather is now expensive as ****, instead of cheaper than dirt.

that's about as much advice as i can give, i don't really farm much in that game. i just play what i feel like, when i feel like, and the money accumulates.

EDIT: holy shit, i forgot how high my post count was and i just noticed it. all these years for you people to catch up and no one even close... makes me feel vindicated in dropping forums >.>

@BrunoBRS: nice to see you in the lounge since it has been like three years since you even peaked man. Just wanted to give my regards in case I don't see you again.

i'm alive and well, thanks. just trying to avoid using forums as it just ate way too much of my (nowadays extremely limited) free time. i figured it made no sense that i spent far more time talking about games than actually playing them, so i'm just avoiding going back to that. i do miss writing editorials and reviews and shit though, i might set up a wordpress or something, just for the sake of it.

By comparison, I've enjoyed my time in Guild Wars 2, though it still doesn't match SWG (simply because I'm not familiar with the GW2 world and can't be arsed to read up on the lore). I recently returned to the game after a year long hiatus, but my only goal now is to make money to buy my character a wedding dress. I seem to recall a certain user on this board who was insanely into GW2 back in the day...

Last I checked, @BrunoBRS is a little too busy trying to git gud at Smash while telling others to git gud at Overwatch, in case you were wondering. Also school and work.

I HAVE BEEN SUMMONED. or something. honestly chances are i won't even read if anyone replies to this because i don't check the forums, but the @ thing sends me an email notification... but anyway

yes, smash and overwatch are my biggest distractions currently, even though i have no actual people to play smash with, much less at a decent connection >.> i still play GW2 weekly though, though far less than i did years ago. thousands of hours do that to you. also playing: monster hunter generations.

I really love it. But my main problem with it is...No matter which way you cut it, it's always the same characters fighting on the same stages. An adventure mode or story mode would of differentiated the gameplay.

Other than that...It may be the best Smash ever.

that's why i like smash run so much. it has enough moment-to-moment gameplay and variables to keep it varied, and it doesn't play like regular smash, but like adventure mode in the previous games.

  • at its core, it's the best, most balanced smash game to date.
  • 8 man smash is way, way too cluttered and chaotic. it's borderline unplayable. me and my friends have pretty much given up on it. maybe if it had split screen, it could work on that kirby stage...
  • speaking of 8 man smash, classic mode sucks on wii u because half the matches are 6-8 man smashes in tiny stages (who thought kongo jungle 64 and castle siege were good stages for 8 players?). as such it lacks encounter variety. smash 3DS' classic is efficient and better than in the wii u, but nothing game breaking.
  • not sure if i got way better since the melee days, but i breezed through all events in a few days, with the rewards/flags. some were more troublesome than others, some were interesting and creative (i like the one where you must keep the mr. game and watches from landing on the stage), but it felt short.
  • smash tour is sh!t. smash run is the best mode in either game and justifies buying the 3DS version, on top of smash on the go.
  • still can't set custom values for stamina smash, or set coin smash to "first to X coins wins" instead of time.
  • someone fire their stage design team and hire a new one. i'm tired of all stages being either a variation of battlefield, a scrolling stage, or a "tour" stage, where a main platform takes you through several spots in a large environment (like the mario sunshine stage). this problem started in brawl and it still annoys me.
  • for the love of god, remember who's playing the game now. having to set my name every single time i play every single game mode and every single time i swap game modes just because i use custom controls is the most obnoxious thing i've seen in any fighting game. imagine having to set up your buttons before every match in any other fighting game.
  • i really, really miss having long term specific goals that rewarded me characters and stages. on one hand, i like having access to everything in the "base" game fast, on the other, i feel like i run out of interesting content too quick if i don't have a clear goal to work towards (this really, really hurt how much i played mario kart 8). no, doing challenges for trophies doesn't count.
  • this might tie into the previous paragraph: RNG for custom moves, hats and costumes is hell. at least costumes go by quickly.
  • i like the more cartoonish style on the 3DS, and the more gamey music. while the wii u smash's visuals are far better than the "gritty reboot" style from brawl, i still prefer cartoonish visuals for this game.
  • custom fighters are a really cool idea... if they didn't have to come with stupid RPG-lite stats. i can't play fairly with custom characters because the CPU filler characters will all be buffed to hell and back because of a broken system. i really want an option to turn on only the custom moves, not the stats.
  • overall, i prefer the 3DS version, unless it's to play with others. in fact, i was ready to skip the wii u version until someone gifted it to me. it's a really solid game either way though.

PS: pet peeve: who looked at the wii u gamepad and thought "L + R + A + start" was a good input to exit the match? why can't it be something that i can do without taking my hand off my controller first? and why don't events have a "quick retry" button like home run and target blast do? i don't even mind the lack of an actual pause menu, but make the damn thing intuitive and complete then.

gamespot is the only forum i've ever seen without that feature. it's baffling that it hasn't been brought back yet, so yes.

Immediately after her Last of Us Remastered review.Did anyone else get reminded of Kayne And Lynch Dead Men ?

Good point .

not that i'll bother checking this thread tomorrow, but how is it a good point? it's the same score the game got last year, and no one got fired over that. unless you want to say that mcshea got fired over a year old review.

what's funny is that kane and lynch got bashed, so the conspiracy was "you didn't like the game, you're out". TLOU has nothing but praise sang to the game, but apparently sony is desperate for that 9/10 on gamespot. enough to force CBS to fire their editors over an old review. all those other folks laid off? colateral damage of sony's rage over a "not-perfect" score.

clearly there's no other possible explanation.

seriously, it's insulting to those people that you guys think they were on a payroll all these years, but they suddenly decided "NO MORE CORRUPTED JOURNALISM" and got fired over it. because that's what you sound like.

Dude , that was a joke . As I mentioned earlier , gamespot killed its traffic by redesigning the website . So , the layoffs .

sarcasm doesn't translate well into text.

though yes, the redesign really hit the viewership. heck, this is the first time i've checked forums since the redesign (that's what you get for not tracking my progress through a thread). i still have the site as my homepage, and still watch their shows, but my time in here is a mere fraction of what it was (and my post count should give you an idea of that).

what worries me is that they were already having a hard time putting out reviews in time without over-relying on freelancers. of the people left, kevin is really the only one that writes reviews, and he's the chief review editor, so of course he stayed.

on a side note, i wonder how multiple players will work from now on, assuming they keep that show going. do they even have four people from the recurring guests of that show left? chris, mary, shaun, and........? danny?
