Why model the bits then? Publicity stunt for sure!

New studio has played it safe, I get that. The complaint I have is the inclusion of a multiplier, since the series doesn't need it. Why not just include Gotham City Impostors? It's a great game that could new with some new players.

A 6.0 is harsh though, I understand Gamespots argument that it is more of the same but that would still warrant a strong 7 or 8. This is a perfect example of where two scores would be needed, one score judging it as a sequel and and another as a stand alone game. I'm sure someone unfamiliar with the series would have none of the complaints that Gamespots makes here therefore wouldn't see this game as a 6.0. It is very contradictory to other game series that are guilty of the same retreading, take CoD or Assassins Creed for example. Consistently high scoring despite little changes to the base formula. I have no issue marking a game down because of these reasons but if Gamespot want to do that then they need to do it across the board and not just here and there like they do.

I like Gamespot reviews, I really do, they are on point with my own opinions a lot of the time, but they need more consistentcy between reviewers

Trust me on this. I wasn't a fan of it for movies and TV for a while but my TV does that smoothing thing that emulates the result with 24fps content and now if I watch something without it, it looks jumpy jerky and overall awkward. It's a transistion I think we will make eventually with half if not over half of the people in the dislike camp. However overtime we will wonder how the hell we ever watched 24fps movies and TV.

As for gaming yes 60fps matters it always has it always will. There is no argument here.

MMMmmmmm I thinks that online stuff like this needs a revisit in a few months once the glitches have gone. Or give it two scores, one that fits it as it stands now and one if the bugs and glitches were fixed, because eventually they will be and then the score doesn't reflect the game.

I would like Assassins Creed a lot more if there was less of them. We should be seeing the 3rd game by now not the 6th. As long as the series comes out every year it will stagnate and never progress in interesting ways. I still remember my pure surprise when playing the first game that you were in fact playing memories and were actually in the modern day, secrets like that being held until the games release just don't happen anymore and it was so refreshing. Also the literal goosebumps when seeing the room Desmond was in via Eagle Vision right at the end of the game. Fantastic!
The story had a point, it was going somewhere. We already know that it was originally planned as a trilogy and therefore must have had a set structure of beginning, middle and end. Which has since been abandoned because there is no way anyone could try anything ambitious with a game like this in the time frame of a year. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the games, they are decent enough. However we have been essentially robbed by Ubisoft of what could have been one of the most interesting trilogies of the past 20 years because of quantity over quality.

(note: I understand that it is business and Ubisoft made the correct decision in going annually as far as that is concerned. At least in the short term.)

PS. Sorry for the little long and maybe slightly ranty post, but everytime I see Assassins Creed it just bugs me because it is a series that I should really love and I can't. I own games 1 - Rev and have only played until 2!)

Sounds awesome. With fixed system specs and fixed OS we should start seeing dev be able to crank extra performance out of even the modest package. It's like having the benefits of both console and PC gaming in one device with awesome sales and GabeN nipples.

Two fold. One it gets game centric sites like this talking about it because any news from the next gen will be reported on. Secondly it is so that later on when the console is released they don't have 2 million people moaning on the internet about a 20 min patch like Nintendo had with the Wii U. Also 20 min is generous, expect it to actually take 30-40mins I'm sure Microsoft is a little out of touch when it comes to how fast peoples home internet actually is and the fact that they will have hundreds of thousands of people downloading this patch all at once.
