This is a damn good game, in every aspect, yea there is nothing new brought to the table but you can only bring so much to the table till you just start making shit up that never was in the comics, cartoons or the movies, I love this game, here I was worried about the fact that Rocksteady was not involved and I thought Warner brothers was gonna f%ck it up, well I was for nothing because WB did a fine job!
Overall, I agree with Carolyn's review, except for the final score. The story and structure fell short of the previous Arkham games, which I think added to the awareness of its repetitive nature, the side missions felt incomplete and left much more to be desired, and it had more bugs than its predecessors, but it was still an entertaining Batman experience. The combat and predator scenarios were as fun as the previous games, the production quality was solid and the story still had some great moments. I'd rate it a 7.5
Just how I expected. It's a prequel you can't change that much and I'm glad they didn't.
Though a little buggy and main story a little short.
Hey I am just asking has Nvidia monopolized this game for PhysicsX as
well I mean I was really pissed offf as a console gamer by the Arkham
City because when I went to Joker in the steel factory the furnace was throwing Fire sparks only for Nvidia GPU and not for my damn PS-3 I
threw this game on railway track out of anger why I am limited by
certain graphics content against Nvidia having all the reality cloth
physics could'nt the so called bloody Developers at Rocksteady studios
were unable to program it to work on PS-3 or the other console?, fog
physics and the particle physics at all I mean both consoles had null
or no physics at all and guess what, is it true that Nvidia has done
this time as well just to sell their precious CUDA PhysX ?

Finished the latest Batman game, Arkham Origins.. review time..
WORST. BATMAN GAME. EVER. and yes I said that in Simpson's "Comicbook Store Guy's" voice.
It's just sad.. Warner Bros, you took over this game after Rockstar did 2 great games previous, you should feel ashamed lol. You brought nothing new (worthwhile anyway), revamped so much already rehashed content... blah. I highly suggest the leads on this project Google "Seppuku" and give it some serious thought. :)
Most unrewarding ending(s) of em all, completely anti-climactic fights with some great villains, combat controls are actually less responsive while producing yet further over the top acrobatics (even for Batman), while on the side you face an insanely dull grind-style gathering quest for Enigma which has NO amount of riddle solving in them, and much of the lore established from prior Arkham games is disregarded and re-written in this.. which is just stupid for a prequel of the same series... a big example being Harley / Jokers first meeting and interaction in this game compared to the recordings uncovered in Arkham Asylum
AVOID Batman Arkham Origins, while its a fun game with great action and some fun parts, the overall experience will leave you sorely disappointed if you played the first 2 and were expecting something grand; this falls way short of the mark.
in a series like Batman you don't want or need to change things much. Arkham City was an extraordinarily solid game and no one in their right mind would change a winning formula drastically, unless it goes flat and repetitive (like CoD).
on top of that why taking the risk of overhauling a pretty well-established game? look at FIFA or CoD for example. yes, many argue that these series are more of updates to previous iterations, but the thing is can you possibly go rogue and "overhaul" FIFA's gameplay mechanics while people want more of the same thing every year? and that's the case for CoD as well. many of us love to feel claustrophobic in tight corners and corridors over and over again even if we don't admit it.
when it comes to Arkham Origins, i absolutely want a "bigger, better and more badass" game, but then again, i want more of the same things i loved in the past two Batman games.
I have been playing this game for the past few days. It's basically like a huge expansion pack of Arkham City. Everything is the same... the controls, the types of missions, and even the building layouts are the same, both interior and exterior. It's pretty much Arkham City with all new stuff to do. And that's cool with me. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
One very big issue with the game is that, at least on the 360 version, it's plagued with console crashing freezes. Sometimes I can play 2 hours until I get a freeze and have to reset my 360-S, and other times I'll just boot up the system and it'll freeze within 10 mins.. It's VERY aggravating but thankfully the game saves like every 5 secs.. Almost like they knew about the freezing issues so they made the game auto-save every minute.
Wow.. 6.5 was a rough score - especially since the story has been highlighted as best in series.. odd.
I've seen series that didn't offer anything different but continue to get ratings of 8.5 and up (Call of Duty for example). If that was the biggest hangup for the game, being predictable and sameness, I think a 7 is more justified.
Being "more of the same" isn't necessarily a bad thing, in my opinion. But it does affect the price I'll pay for it. If it shows up on a 75% Steam sale, I'll pick it up. Until then, I'll play other games.
Although a 6 might be a bit low, I was also disappointed with this game. Sure, it was fun fighting Deathstroke and all, but it still IS the same game as Arkham City with just some different story elements. It's bugged and the sidequests are practically identical to AC, as is the combat. It's fun playing, but it's "same old, same old." I expected something new for my money, otherwise I would just have played Arkham City again.
I am glad I can finally see one of Carolyn's reviews without her mentioning anything about how sexist games are and blah blah about women in games and what is best, it also happens to be a good review indeed. I've played Arkham Origins and yeah, I can't see much innovation at all, the game is great, but there is nothing Arkham City didn't offer before.
Players , this game is great and will appeal to most of you who have played the previous Batman games. Bigger levels, a training room in the Bat cave, nicely rendered bad guys from the comics, great voice acting, special fx (esp. on pc), more baddies but different purpose, ACTION - you'll have a blast. Hollywood could never capture in over 20 yrs. what this game has in each of its' incarnations. If you feel like every iteration of a game does NOT have to out do its' predecessor you're going to enjoy this installment.
Assassins Creed 4 got 9... Battlefield 4 got 8... and Batman 3 got 6... great job LAMEspot...
oh and yes... I almost forgot Grand Theft Auto 5 got 9... another great job LAMEspot...
Warner is busy making the next-gen batman game, so they arranged another developer studio to make this game. That is why the game is so similar to the former ones.
This game was scored low to get everybody to talk about it.If you need to read a proper review check out ign or cvg
Why do you guys care about the score that much? It's been EVERY SINGLE TIME when some games get less than 8. See you on feedbackula I guess.
I give you guys a 6 for being repetitive and predictable.
If Battlefield 4 or Cod Ghosts get above an 8, I've lost all faith in games journalism. Seriously, how many Call of Duty games have there been since CoD4? 6, at least? I'm pretty sure every single one of those scored above an 8.
Arkham Origins does not deserve the reviews it's getting.
Well it was criticized for same game mechanics and not introducing something that made it evolutionary of the series.
1. Game play that in the last games were really fun (yes repetition but was fun for me)
2. The character development and story in the past games, I thought, were decent. I'd buy the game one those 2 principles along. (the one thing that was given credit too)
3. Game video looks the same just with more free-roaming. I felt the open world (albeit not true open-world in the last game) I thought really made the game (and series) better for it.
4. Voice-acting. She said, Batman was flat-sounding and Joker was, I guess, as good?
All, in all, you just had to say, "Pretty much same game, same mechanics, open-world, but if you had fun with the previous games or if you're into Batman and haven't played a Batman game in a while, you'll probably enjoy it".
Not sure I agree with a 6 though.. Maybe a 7.
This is slightly off topic, but did the reviewer do any kind of voice over work? She sounds like the voice of Mandark from Dexter's Laboratory. I'm totally geeking out if she is.
@IndySandbagTrik ther is no .5 anymore
@randallsilver Why AC can repeat its gameplay for 6 games while Batman can't do it for 3 games? and actually the ninja enemy and the new counter the counter mechanic adds more to the combat and is a more significant improvement than any combat related improvevent in AC series. the next AC game should shure copy that.
Well, that was supposed to be a reply to a reply on my last comment, but the site seems to have failed. Whoops :P
@espiranza88 Lamespot, that's very clever of you....
@svlym You mean Rocksteady? Of course you did.
@Dragonbob76 Proper review and IGN never go in the same sentence. Unless its about how they never do a proper review.
@jlfost2 This is a joke right.
@treava From what Ive seen it is THE REASON for the score, not the score itself that's pissing off the users. For example Batman AO scores 6/10 for being like the other games, but games like COD,BF,FIFA (and all sport franchises for that matter) are reviewed without comparing them with the other games in the franchise.
@lucfonzy no one cares
@Andrendenum1 And the online portion? Because I'm almost certain that affected the score, too.
@pjblues1993 Yeah! That one whole, whopping point in a meaningless number system makes ALL the difference!
@sabresieben Different reviewer, completely different genre. And arguing about numbers is ridiculous in the first place.
The game was judged fairly on ign .
All games have a level of repetition and most are unchanged from the previous game.
This game shouldn't of been scored lower for these reasons.
@NikIvRu Don't lie to yourself. Whatever REASON she might've given for the score would've caused bitching. The REASON for that is people don't know how to use reviews.
@RedWave247 @Andrendenum1 You're probably right. I don't play a lot of multiplayer and when I do it's not Batman series. It wouldn't be the first MP game I'd go to. I'm sure there are people that do though.
Yes, from the video, I didn't see anything exciting there. I guess I was thinking more SP story-line mode. No offense to anyone who enjoys the MP portion of the game.
@Dragonbob76 Not really. IGN fucking blows.
@Dragonbob76 I've been playing it for a few hours now and I can honestly say Carolyn is completely correct. They just trot out villain after villain in exactly the same way each time like they're afraid you might get distracted by your own eyelids and stop playing.
@Dragonbob76 I believe it is accurate
