If the PS4 is doing well it doesn't matter if Sony is doing badly; even if Sony were to end up in serious financial trouble the Playstation brand is too appealing to potential buyers to simply disappear without being bought up. And I can't imagine a new company owning Playstation (if such a thing ever happened) would mean much change.

This is not the case for MS. If XBOX changed hands you could be sure it would be run very differently.

Sales = Developer support and leverage in the gaming market

Profit wars = something that has as of yet to mean anything to gaming. In fact, PS3 caught up and probably even surpassed the 360 all while Sony was struggling.

System wars, the only place I can get a better opinion than the wall street journal about armchair financials on a monday morning.
