The Forza Franchise Has Exceeded $1 Billion in Retail Sales, Forza Horizon 3 2.5 Million sales

Looks like FH3 sold good, and its still selling in Feb 2017. These look like stats for Dec 2016

Some people are even saying the 2.5 million number may not include Digital sales just sold through at Retail? Those be insane numbers if true., but we need an update on that.

MS will happy with 2.5 million sales either way, this just for December.

I dont follow Forza, so I dont really know. That being said I can almost guarantee that its digital sales too if this is coming from MS. No reason to water down their figures

Sold through means you shipped games to stores and the units bought by customers. Buying digitally is different you buy online.

Those are some well deserved sales too. FM and FH are both great racing franchises that I actually enjoy playing. (Not much of a racer fan anymore) While I prefer Horizon, Turn 10 has been killing it with Motorsports as well. I'm happy to see a deserving series getting the sales it deserves.

I would apply the same logic to Sony or Nintendo. I get they are trying to impress shareholders, its not from a third party source and they dont specify where the sales are from. The only option is to assume it leans towards being inflated

I would call this a success for Microsoft. They successfully setup brilliant consistence studios for this franchise. I would not compare it to Granturismo though that is literally like Halo and sells better. In fact for some reason it is the biggest blockbuster for sony, not UC, GOW or anything from there other studios. As f***ing shallow as PD is these days sometimes I think people forget that.

Forza franchise games aren't my cup of tea, but kudos for it's successful exceeding $1 billion I guess.

Great stuff, the development teams for these games deserve it, hope everyone gets a pay raise.

FH3 is a great racing game and if you like these kinds of game you owe it to yourself to play it.

Well deserved for the franchise. I hope they will take a break though soon, or at least extend dev times - they're stagnating.

They have created a new studio to specifically address this.

Yeah they have released the same amount of games as Gran Turismo franchise in less than half the time. Talk about milkage.

Inflated? You mean like how with Play Anywhere, digital purchases get a PC copy and an Xbox One copy so you think MS counts each purchase as 2 copies sold? Feasible, I guess. If there were only reporters that could ask such a question...

@aigis: They're made by 2 different developers and are fairly different in styles. It's not COD, where you have one game slightly in the future, and then the next slightly further in the future. It isnt really a yearly release.

Unfortunately there isn't a Gran Turismo for the PS4. I guess these millions would have to keep waiting or play Forza. :( It sucks that they will be forced to play a better game. Damn you Microsoft for having the best racing game on the market for the past 3 or more years.

What does any of that have to do with the quality of the games? Last game in the GT series to crack 90/100 on Metacritic? GT3 in 2001. Forza? FH3 last September. Total titles in 90 ranks? Forza with 5; GT has 3, 2 of which are from 1998 and 1999 on PS1 when they had fuk all competition.
