1: Tomb Raider is better acted from starters, the voice actress for Samus sucks, empirically. More to it Tomb Raider was up front about it being an origin story of turning a wuss into what would be the Lara people associate with today, Other M takes well into her run as a bounty hunter, so her submissive bullshit (which Lara doesn't have) or her ridiculous crying for Ridley is just way the **** out of character.
2 and 3: Tomb Raider has had auto-saves and all that shit, and has always been a shooter/adventure game, Metroid is Metroid, much higher standard there. More importantly Other M had the typical energy tanks/missile launchers in convenient spots, Tomb Raider had pocket dungeons. Major difference in how they separate things. You want to complain that those dungeons were tertiary at best given their simplicity? cool so did everyone else, so what's your point? The dungeons were slacking, both the fanbase and critics talked about that.
4 and 5: Adam's bullshit was more jarring and dumb when he out right tells her not to use the suit in the lava room, where as Lara's father figure character acts like an actual father figure. Adam is more like she wanted to suck his dick. No one cared about Lara's supporting cast, and openly mocked that it was basically there to cover different ethnic groups. Again it wasn't exactly like it got praised, so that's just lazy.
6: You mean the part where critics complained about ludonarrative disonance and gamey logic? Okay, glad we got that covered again.
The comparison sucks, it's lazy, and it's oblivious to a number of things
A: what was criticized about both games
B: how those games, franchises, and all that jazz are different
C: the shit Tomb Raider gets right
Focusing on C for a second Tomb Raider has some terrific shooting mechanics, between have context based cover it feels more loose as opposed to something clunky and stiff like Uncharted/Gears of War, the melee combat evolves from Lara dodging to throw sand to her having more brutal counters, the gunplay itself is terrific, and as an action game it controls well. Other M on the flip side is this bullshit let's put the game down like it's a snes controller, so the movement in this 2.5 d sometimes 3d environment is done on a D-pad(empirically stupid), with the dodge also being tied to the d-pad (dumb decision), and then the game shoe horns in motion controlled bullshit when you need to go into first person to use missiles, so what you get is a good combat engine that is compromised at times because of its controls.
More to it Tomb Raider was always a B-list series with some moments of brilliance, but otherwise it was a pretty dumb adventure series. Metroid? was not b-list in its design, ever. Other M in so many ways is a step down for that series, Tomb Raider isn't, it is a substantial forward in terms of controls and combat.
