Also, yes, Trails in the Sky FC ends on a massive rage-inducing cliffhanger, though I wouldn't say it ended on a sour note. FC's story arc ends on a strong note while transitioning to a second, overlapping arc. Something major happens as a result of that transition though and it's on this event that the game ends. It will absolutely piss you off, but it's well set up (again, it's the result of the transition, not what causes the transition and thus gets time to not feel like the writer's just giving you the finger) and gives you a damn good reason to buy SC when it comes out.
