Game changer. Literally.

Amazing feat. That must have sucked a lot of processing power...#not

BTW Does that mean they're gonna gimp Phantom Pain for X1 too? It doesn't bother me anyway, as I'd never play a MGS game again.

Would really like to see this engine in motion on PC, just to know how far they could really take it. They seem to have added a bunch of little (but cool) details that would benefit from being played on a much powerful hardware. Shame the game won't release on PC (at least i think it won't).

If it's been gimped for any reason, it's because the hardware sucks.

"who cares about graphics when gameplay is all that matters" well, too bad cuz even gameplay is directly downgraded for this Xbox 360 2.0

Well you can. I guess PES is available on PC if I'm not mistaken.

I would be interested to see this too. The engine is obviously quite capable and scalable.

Nothing that is making me rush out to get a Ps4 :p

#11 Posted by StrongBlackVine (8418 posts) -

Sky definitely looks best on PS4.

#12 Posted by ni6htmare01 (939 posts) -

lol is the XB1 version has more "Cloud" in the sky on purpose??

#13 Posted by XboxDone74 (2047 posts) -

Great stuff. Just hope nothing gets gimped because of xbone or pc.

#14 Posted by freedomfreak (40183 posts) -

Sounds really intense.

#15 Posted by ACP_45 (429 posts) -

WELL this just shows that they spent most of their time with the ps4 and basically less with old gens and Xbox One. Sky simulation is absolutely nothing, ps3 and xbox 360 could process it. WTF???

kojima is just showing everyone how biased they truly are and not really putting as much effort into all platforms or at least balancing the time spent on making the game at it's best on all platforms.

Nothing new.

In FSX, I can customize the clouds, cloud types, cloud amounts, how many cloud layers I want and at what height, whether each cloud layer has precipitation. I can do the same for winds, temperature and visibilities.I can also input real-world weather and have them update every 15 minutes for each location along the flight route.

But, it's good more games are starting to include them.

Well yeah, but it's not really optimized game for it since was built with PS3 & X360 in mind too. Maybe this year's version (which should also release on PS4&X1) will showcase the engine in a better light.

#18 Posted by Shewgenja (8898 posts) -

Forza 5 is the best game ever and it doesn't have weather :)

The Xbox version is really blurry and has worse AA. Also is there a UFO in the X1 version? lol

Yep, because I play video games to simulate staring at the sky and playing in the rain.

haha dat difference, x1 version looks last gen. if x1 is struggling to run a game that was basically designed to run on last gen hardware just imagine the difference between ps4 phantom pain and x1 version. it will be night and day

Kojima did say PS4 could do 1080p @ 60fps...with room to spare. Maybe this is what he was talking about.

hideo-kojima-praises-ps4-can-render-1080p-at-60fps-with-room-to-spare

People thinking he neglected the other versions just because he was able to put more of his vision into the PS4 version are in some serious damage control/butthurt.

This is No different than Crytek taking advantage of the extra power that PC has when making versions of Crysis for PC. The PC could do more so they added more of what they could do on the hardware, it's the same here. But I love the whining from all the butthurt, bitter and remorseful fanboys talking as if Kojima took something away from other versions because their console of choice is too weak to do what he's done on the PS4, it's pure comedy.

#26 Posted by PinkieWinkie (1364 posts) -

I can't believe lems actually paid $100 more for such an inferior system. The X1 version looks closer to the ps3/360 version than the ps4.

#27 Posted by Mr-Kutaragi (1948 posts) -

I hope he make DLC for this and not just wait 5 year for full game.

That is funny because he claim the xbox one and PS4 difference was small and try to downplay it..lol

But as soon as the game show the gap is Kujima is lazy..lol

The PS4 can't even do Clouds. hahahahahahahaha

TCHBO!

#33 Edited by BluRayHiDef (10838 posts) -

This is a cool feature. I must ask: Will this also be exclusive to the PS4 in MGSV: The Phantom Pain, which is supposed to have real-time weather and time-of-day simulation?

#34 Posted by MonsieurX (30038 posts) -

Gimped on PC because of consoles,as usual

#35 Posted by gameofthering (10213 posts) -

I don't think I'm seeing it. What is it that is supposed to be different?

#36 Posted by misterpmedia (3380 posts) -

At least he gave the Xb1 version the cloud.(huehuehue)

#37 Edited by xhawk27 (7278 posts) -

The Xbox One has the better CPU. Faster speeds so if those simulation is based on metal ray then the Xbox One version have have this same simulation.

The PS4 version has a bluer sky. The power of GDDR5 at work.

I doubt it. MS could sue Konami.

We just can't keep up with all the love from Sony, you are too good to us really.

Looking forward to this though, I was adamant against playing it with all the shadyness surrounding it but I need something for my PS4 along with infamous

#41 Edited by PinkieWinkie (1364 posts) -

@xhawk27: except the x1 version looks like shit.

#42 Posted by Couth_ (10071 posts) -

It's crazy how big the difference is from these crappy compressed looks. Usually you need a full direct feed to see them.. POWER DIFFERENCE ASIDE it doesn't look like Kojima is even trying to achieve parity, and he shouldn't have to. If our friends at gaf are anything to go by, the xbone has been getting extra treatment on every game to work around the power disparity and bottle necks.

It's nice to know someone isn't letting the xb0ne hold the ps4 back. Thank you BASED Kojima

#43 Edited by xhawk27 (7278 posts) -

@xhawk27: except the x1 version looks like shit.

Because of the Resolution. Both X1 and PS4 have the same amount of Ram so the textures should be the almost the same in size.

#44 Posted by PinkieWinkie (1364 posts) -

@xhawk27: its obvious the ps4 is using other effects with also higher res. The x1 is hardly different from last gen version.

Xbox One has ten times the amount of Ram of last gen consoles.

Perfect example of trade off's to achieve 1080p for the PS4. Let's render less clouds in the scene and get the resolution up.

Honestly... this is just dumb... It's such a useless feature.
