PS3 + Wii = 360 + 7 years XBL gold

This topic is locked from further discussion.

OK kids, time for a bit of math:

PS3 + Wii = 360 + 7 years XBL gold

  • PS3 20 GB launch - $500
  • Wii launch - $250
  • 360 20 GB launch - $400
  • 7 years XBL gold * $50 = $350

I'll preemptively answer a question that might arise, to save you the time typing it in and look like a fool:

Q: BUT ... BUT, YOU COMPARE 2 CONSOLES TO ONE ??!1!!!

Learn-About-Helping-Kids-Handle-Anger-A-

A: I compare two entertainment alternatives with the SAME price.

I dont think they should charge people for peer ro peer play, in my opinion it means that microsoft have managed to both sell and rent hardware at the same time.

nobody forces anyone to buy a 360, If you buy one you are going to pay for XBL Gold if you want to play online. its always been the case, anyone doesn't like it, thats fine by me.

oh and no more posts in this thread from me now, i have seen enough "XBL is a rip off" threads, they are always the dullest threads on SW.

Indeed PS3 owners paid $600 at launch. 360 owners who have played online since the 360's launch have paid over $700 and that number will keep going up every single year.

PS3 was really a great deal.

Add HDDVD ,WIFI and rechargeable battery pack to 360 price and is even more clear.

Broken 360 = fixed for free. Broken PS3 = 160 euro to fix. Headset free with 360. Buy one for PS3. Rumble pads included with 360. Rumble called "last gen" and "impossible" by Sony... who then release rumble pads for 50 euro each as a nice big "fvck you" to their early adopters. All three console makers just want our cash, they just have different ways of screwing us :P

Worst is subjective, but 360 is also officially the console with the most games. You know, what actually matters when you get a gaming console.

You know what I just did after reading this stupid a$$ thread? Renewed XBL for 2 more years. Add that money on to the list as well. Whats the grand total? Paying for XBL for 9 years or whatever, 2,321 dollars. Not having to play my failstation 3 because it blows baboon nuts, priceless.

You need it for basically anything interesting online, even demos are delay to silver users, something that wasn't like that when the 360 first started,it was latter change to make XBL look like a better value. The fact that MS hike the priced based on facebook, twitter and other stupid apps free to every one on this world proves how silly and crappy XBL is,even on my damn phone i get those apps free of charge.

You need it for basically anything interesting online, even demos are delay to silver users, by a week, if that bothers anybody, they are stupid. something that wasn't like that when the 360 first started,it was latter change to make XBL look like a better value. yes and if you cant wait a week for a a demo because you wont pay the live fee, you dont deserve to have an xbox. See my edits in red dude. and also, a game like Halo Reach that i have played for hundreds of hours is easily worth the live fee alone. hell, the vast majority of multiplat games with online modes aren't even worth a w@nk after a little more than a few hours.

Its proof positive that XBL is worth the fee when there are games worth playing that you cannot get anywhere else.

Isn't it up to me what i use my 360 for? netflix in the UK is crap, the movies are old farts and the TV series uninteresting. we get a dvd box set and can then watch it in the living room or in the bedroom, dont need netflix unless you like watching 80's B movies. I use the Zune service to stream new movies, doesn't require gold.

that means INCLUDING GAMING, xbox live usage has gone up 30% on last year not that entertainment only on XBL has gone up. these new apps probably help contribute to the increase in time spent on it lol.

PS3 + Wii is a better value, overall. For a core gamer, like me, 360 is clearly a better option. I would hate to not be able to play Gears, Left 4 Dead, The Witcher 2, Trials Evo, Halo, Forza, Minecraft, etc... I hate the mandatory live fees, though

[QUOTE="OhSnapitz"] So you don't pay an ISP or have a phone contract? :|

ISP = Never free..................................... Phoen contract = never free.......................... This is the analogy that really make me laugh, when desperate fans try to compare xbox live charge with ISP or phone contracts...Samsung doesn't charge me for online access of service,Sprint does that, but since when phone services had been free.? Wait there is more when have ISP give free internet access.? See you will have an argument here,if AT&T,Sprint,T-mobile,Virgin,and pretty much any company gave free internet access,or free phone services and just Verizon charged people. See if the ISP industry and cell phone industry was like this, you have a point but since every one charge for Internet and phone services you don't have one. Online play = free on all gaming platforms,PC,console, tablets, cellphones but on xbox 360. ISP and cell phone services = not free any were on this planet.

MS ain't fixing sh1t once that thing runs out of warranty (unless it's rrod) and no offence, but those repair prices for the PS3 must be BS. He's right though :P When you look at things the PS3 actually included a lot of things back then. Sure it didn't come with rumble and that was a mistake. Sure the Xbox 360 was cheaper, but it didn't come with a built in wifie, BD or free online. I'm not saying the Xbox 360 is or was bad since you could get a new next gen consol for far less then the PS3, but the advantages of the PS3 was clear - you just had to pay for it. :-)

Because providing a backward compatibility function as part of the ps3 and then removing it is a good plan? you might have decided to sell your ps2 to put money towards a PS3, hell, trading in your console for a new one was a great idea if you could keep your collection and play it on the PS3, too bad sony has other plans. If it wasn't there in the first place, fair enough revamp and HD upgrade your old ps2 games, but to say, "yes, the PS3 will play PS1 and PS2 games", then to remove the feature and try and sell you the games again makes it look like a very bad move.

First yes they are free on cellphone, the phone contract and monthly fee had nothing to do with those apps,in fact you can have your phone app less of have a phone that doesn't support apps and you will still be charge dude, they charge you for the cervices. I have play many PS3 games for hundred of hours to still my PS3 is free, there is no pathetic justification for the rip that XBL is,funny because what rule XBL online today are 3rd party games, regardless of been good or bad,in fact Halo Reach has superior code to any COD i have play it,but it feel dated and old. Probably that is why people prefer COD to Halo, but never the less if the game suck COD many times do,still you are charge to play,it doesn't matter if Halo works right, other games work right to,on other console as well and on PC and online still is free.
