Wow, the gen is Sony's for the foreseeable future. I wonder how long until supply finally outstrips demand for the damn thing. Also, Xbox fans shouldn't be too upset, the One is still doing quite well, it isn't exactly looking like the Gamecube or Wii U. The PS4 is just doing amazingly.

no, sold-through means sold to customers. sold to retailers means retailers have bought them from MS but they're sitting in shops.

Sony has been reporting Sold-Through numbers ever since the PS4 launched, mayne.

They're selling everything they make.

everyone thought they had 4million+ sold through. so 5million shipped still could mean that to be honest.

And c'mon, their biggest new IP game that they have console exclusive of that they have been marketing through the roof, that they PAID for, and not mention how well it's selling... hmm.

Sony doesn't report sold-through numbers for anything. Everything is shipped to retailers and always has been. Let's not get it twisted.

Sony has been reporting sold-through numbers for months now, specically stating sold through ... we had one for the 7mil+ mark. o.O. Nice try though.

And again this is clearly not the first time it happened. Also. it's not their IP. But anyway, I highly doubt they would shove 1 million extra units of inflation. If they did that it would have shown with things like games sold and the attach rate, so I think at the least 4.5 would be the most accurate number of sold-to-consumers. Maybe.

As for the 360, it won't die for some reason.

ps4 wins against microsoft who discounted, bundled and through a heavy advertising budget for their titan fall bundles. Mean while Sony just throws infamous ads on youtube and streaming websites. The king has returned

oh are people downplaying that Sony has actually sold through 7 million consoles to consumers while Microsoft has only SHIPPED 5 million consoles to retailers? Oh system wars still the same I see.

they could be selling them to retailers and retailers are not selling enough

No they haven't. They report just like everyone else does. It just happens that the PS4 has been sold out since launch so you could say within reason that it's sold through. Sony is still only reporting shipped though.

We actually don't know if that 7 million is shipped or not, but 7 is higher than 5. If anything I think this just shows the Wii U is dead.

So let's get this straight. PS1, PS2 and PS3 sales were all shipped but all of a sudden Sony is now getting the actual data directly from the retailers? Sorry but I call BS. Sony knows the PS4 has been pretty much sold out so they're obviously going to claim sold and into consumers hands but they're not getting any other special sales data than what MS or nintendo is getting. Your post proves absolutely nothing. You'll see later on after the sales die down all of a sudden it'll be shipped.
