GT5 sales are madness! O_o

Was just looking randomly and have found that GT5 sold over $7Million copies as of last year... as many ppl know i dont really talk about sales that often or care about the numbers to begin with but i just want to understand.. why do GT games sell so much? :P... GT5 as of last year sold over 7Million copies so it could be sitting at over 9 Million copies as we speak.

The GT5 demo sold over 5Million which puts the entire GT5 game at over $12Million copies as of 2011

Is the game this good? can anyone explain a little about it? cuz this is just crazy :shock:

Well the GT franchise is the biggest racing franchise out there and there is almost no competition in SIM racers, plus the GT brand branched out even outside the gaming industry that's why it's getting even bigger right now and last but not least, GT5 was the only real GT experience every fan was waiting to drop on the PS3.

I personally have played Forza and don't like it, the physics are pretty wack in my opinion. Gran Turismo is great but it's really for car people. I love it though.

Pretty much momentum of its brand name carrying it through. If you look at overall sales for GT 3 4 and 5. The trend is sloping downwards. It take a lot of effort to change people's mind. Forza is slowly but surely doing that.

It really is better than GT5 and yes i have GT5 and F3.

Anyway, its the brand name, GT is a huge brand and it sold on name alone, which, after how GT5 turned out, isnt likely to happen with the next installment. That and its the only decent exclusive simish racer on the PS3.

It's not surprising. It's a really popular series in the genre, for the PlayStation brand and has a storied legacy.

It's the prestige of the brand. GT was able to build when there was no competition and now has a strong enough brand to pull it through the tough times (now), like Playstation itself (early struggles).

Also it has the Japanese sales too.

Forza is very slowly building up its brand. It only really became a stand out game with Forza 3. Forza 2 didn't make waves.

It's not about which is better though, Fifa has always outsold PES but it has only recently been the better game.

PC may have more realistic sims, but not everyone is willing to bother downloading 100s of addons or is willing to spend 100s of hours just for the car settings to stand a chance in online racers.
