Whether you believe that you have a better musical taste than the people of OT or just the public in general, I would like to understand why you think so. And I'm not trying to start a debate, but I want to understand why people think the way they do.
Listen Lonely you may have attractive women pop up in your sig every now an then but if doesn't change the fact that I'm right and the rest of you are wrong. Thats how life works for the rest of you.
I think I have very good taste in music, but I don't feel a need to compare it against the tastes of others because unlike some people on this forum, I know how subjective these things ultimately are.
I do not believe my taste is better than anyone elses. Ones taste in music is simply their opinion and cannot be superior to anothers. People just love to be right is all. :P
I'd imagine that the fact that the individual actually likes what they like would be the reason.....seriously. Unless they revel in bad music I suppose....

lol I shall give you a serious answer.. Its because I'm very serious about music, and open up my horizons listening to a lot of music, and thus developing a taste based on experience... Umm taste in music is different, but I won't respect you very much if you only listen to the itunes top50( which is pretty much just one big pop sample!)
Well, I think I have a weird taste in music because really there isn't that many bands/artists that I don't like mainstream or not. I don't think my taste is better, but I can understand why people would like some artists even if I don't like them too much.
Taste is personal, so obviously everyones will be better than anyone elses. My taste in music is so great i only know two people who can match it and mine is still better.
I look at the artists talked about in alot of the forums, and for the most part, they are talentless, soulless artists (a VERY loose use of the word) borrowing from better musicians before them. There are always exceptions. I applaud the folks on this site with good taste in music, and that's all I can do.

Well all the songs I listen are recommended by everyone I know. Therefore, I have everyone's taste in music. So in a way, my taste in music is clearly the best because it consists of everyone's.

If you are ever willing to accept that someone can like something that's just plain bad, then it makes perfect sense that you'd be willing to admit that someone else's taste in music is better than yours.
Yeah music is really subjective, so i hate seeing all these rants about how this particular genre sucks or that astist is horrible on the comments section on youtube

No offense, but if someone said to me, "I listen to music with mathematical songwriting," that wouldn't sound very good to me.
Im sorry then... I am an "elitist: by that definition. Taste in music is regarded to the wide range of styles and context within genres, NOT preference. With that said, I am a strong believer that artists within their field of work can be measured up against one another. Opinions can be formed to think why artist A is better than artist B and examples can be giving. Its silly that we can compare different forms of art like food and literature to form a strong argument but when it comes to music, for the sake of people not bothering to learn about it, the "its my opinion" card is pulled. That imo is more elitist than claiming to know more, and actually proving it with knowledge you have discovered yourself. Its better than being some pretend phony....
Theirs nothing wrong with claiming you have better taste than someone else, however there is a difference when you put someone down for liking it and that is just being rude.
