nobody believes in religion because they believe logically it makes sense, religion isn't based on logic it's based on the complete opposite, devoting your life to something with absolutely no proof

they believe in it because they are scared not to, and 99% of religious people were programmed that way from birth

yeah im just making my points here im not really directing it at either of you,

just sayin

I'm actually not a Christian. I am, but I'm more partial to evolution. I know what you're talking about, but a person from the Church came on Fox saying they were hypothetical statements about what modern day acts could be considered sin. They're not officially sins

U can still be a Christian and believe in evolution.

I know you can. See it's not that I'm trying to be a rebelious teen who wants to jump on the agnostic/athiest bandwagon. It's just I stopped believening it at one point. Sometimes I try or still pray, but I don't feel anything anymore. However, I don't support the bashing of Christianity( or any religion really) and support the belief of it/would encourage it

because theres more to life than just what comes after it - which you people believe is another life, then whats the point of death?

living without these beliefs really makes you live each day to the fullest and take nothing for granted - because im sorry fellas this is it - we go to the same place that a dead fish does

the ground

But the matter of accepting Jesus (P.B.U.H.) as God, is a matter of faith. It's not a historical fact. Sure many people did believe in him as God, but many donot believe in him as God. (Certain religions donot identify him as well)

jlh47

But the same can be said of Mohammend.

no

Yes. Accepting him as a prophet requires faith. There is no proof.

Quran is my proof ;) and its the truth...bible has failed, Quran hasnt, you tried to prove it false and failed

The earliest qur'anic writings on coins and on the Dome of the Rock do not coincide with the current qur'anic text.

Oh I know that... I have just had more Christians threaten me with death that all the other religions combined... (Face to Face of Coarse...) I know about the Jihad that says all muslims should kill any and all Americans as they see fit... I have yet to meet a muslim that has come up to me and threatened me though... While on the other hand I have met plenty Christians that do that...

mingo123

Christians walk up to you...tell you they are Christian and state they are going to kill you? I do not believe that. At all.

No... they walk up to me... tell me they are Christian... and tell me that I will burn in hell forever unless I embrace their god... I had cancer and I was in a hospital for over 11 months... and at least once a week I had a christian preacher from a local church come to my room and praise his god and tell me to accept my end and accept his god or I would burn in hell forever when I died...

I ignored this and continued my treatment and I am not cancer free... that was almost a decade ago...

they tell you for your own good....they give you good advice and help you from getting pwned in hellfire.....these days people dont give a f about anyone but aint it good that some one came to you to show you the right path yet you refused....how sad

lolz, you actually believe all that?? wow. "Pwned in hellfire"? Awesome.

Exactly... you don't even answer me... and you say I will be punished for not believing in your god... that is what makes me a "non" believer...

the same God that put you on Earth, made water for you, did so many things for you.....asks you to just follow him yet you cant...well you gotta pay then :P

If someone told you that if you didn't listen to them you would be sent to a dark hot place below the earth, what would you do? If God is so good why does he threaten you? Also, if you make it to "heaven" and disobey God you get kicked out of heaven. Sound like a dictator to me...

LJS9502_basic

To the crucifixtion? It was public and several people were around. So that 1 person is not true. Again...first learn Christianity and not what Islam SAYS is Christianity.

How do YOU know what happened? The bible is not an accurate historical document, it cannot be used as proof that anything happened, only as a basis for further research. Of course, in every story there is usually a grain of truth, but everything in the bible is just that, stories, not to be taken literally or interpreted as the words of God himself. In this day and age, anyone who believes in the bible literally is brainwashed, brought up with their beliefs. Just look at all the Creationists out there...

the New Testament isn't a reliable historical document.

mind telling us how you arrived at that conclusion?

oh I will go into the historical and textual reliability of the new testament, I just want to know how you arrived at THAT conclusion specifically.

Why?

Promising paradise and immortality for all those who follow him and threatening damnation and eternal hellfire to those who don't?

What type of savior threatens death, destruction, pain, suffering to those who do not follow him?

I am not an atheist... more of an agnostic... I believe there could be some type of creator or higher power... but I do not follow a religion... but those of you who follow Jesus? Why?

You say that we shouldn't follow evolution because there is no proof... when there is proof... the oil we burn the fossils that fill our museums? If that isn't proof enough for you... then why do you follow something you can't even see or feel?

Right after you tell me to not follow evolution... you turn around and tell me to believe in someone I have never met who died for "my" sins and to follow a several thousand year old book that says I will suffer for all of eternity unless I embrace it...?

What about other religions? Buddhist, Jews, Hindus, Muslims... they have followed their religions for thousands of years? You are telling me that they are wrong and will suffer because of it?

You people who preach your religions sound more like fanatics than faithful. You tell us we will suffer unless we embrace your lord.

All I ask is why?

Squeets
Why not?Why not belive in something that makes you feel like when you die you just exit exsisetence and no one remembers what happened. Wouldent you like to belive you'll be going to a paradise. Also god never said you have to follow him. Just acknowledge his exsistence and dont break the commandments.

what witness? only 1 person?

smarb001

Mind posting your proof then. And before you make assumptions you may wish to find out what someone...you know believes. Never assume dude.

Arguing with a Christian is like arguing with a brick wall; you're never going to get anywhere and in the end you'll look like an idiot.

Which can be said of other religions and atheists as well.;)

Yeah well, at least Athiests have a solid basis for their beliefs... I mean how many of you believers in here came to the assumption that God exists by yourself, without it being drilled into your head at church or by your parents. At least in ancient times people were creative with their gods, and thought their own system of beliefs instead of simply adopting the dominant religion. I mean, I actually came to the conclusion that all religions are lies by thinking about it and suddenly I understood, how did this happen to you? How much do you want to bet that it didn't, because you've never experienced anything else and have never seriously questioned your religion....

people believe in religion because they have to, because it gives them hope

they need a voice to tell them what to do or else they would lose their marbles

just people looking for a quick answer to life

sorry fellas

Thats why we have a thing called faith. One big difference between athiests and belivers. Wouldent you rather have hope instead of thoughts of when you die you die? Why wouldent you belive? You asked us questions, now its are turn.

Beliefs are beliefs. And at this time we have no answer which is correct. Therefore, atheists are no more correct than anyone else.

More erroneous assumptions.... Seriously dude....stop assuming. One is generally wrong when doing that.
