Back in the era of the Dreamcast, i had an addiction... That was Virtua Tennis 2k2. (That was only 2 years ago...so it wasnt really an era) That game was the best, but you couldnt do more than play with your friends in front of your TV. All of a sudden, here in 2003, Top Spin waltzes in and takes the crown from Sega's franchise (why no ESPN Tennis???). Gameplay: This game is great. I like the In the zone stuff but its extremely hard at first and even if you pull off the meter right you can still hit it out of bounds...controls are great. Career mode is kinda hard at times and tournaments are long (with no save feature). But you gotta keep tryin' because the more pumped up your character is, the better they will play when you take them onto Xbox Live! Visuals: Good. The characters move a little rough on the animation sometimes. My created character looked a lot like the other characters my friends have made (not much of a variant in facial style --- but still great --- better than Virtua Tennis but not quite Tiger Woods 2004). Presentation is fine. Sound: In-menu music is good and the announcers are sometimes heard. The crowd is great, as they cheer good plays and get out of their seats sometimes and stand up to cheer. No music in match, which is like tennis, but i liked VT's quiet music playing to fit the pace. Value: Xbox Live. Play on there. Its fun. Overall, a great tennis game and a fantastic first release for Microsoft's Power and Magic Studios.
