I looked at the reviews for Zelda and paper mario, and they got only 8.8 each! abd they say that the score is so because they didn't change the games' style! And when a developer does change it, they get critcized for changing it. Do you guys think Gamespot is mad?

man, i wouldn't give zelda on the wii anything over a 7. i played it on the gamecube first, and compared to that, the wii version is lacking. the controls are very inaccurate and the difficulty level was dropped, i would guess, to keep people from geting too frustrated with the controls. so, i think gamespot gave zelda on the wii too high of a score.

you can find the info all over the internet [click me now] that says blu-ray will define new regions. Japan and the US will be in the same region. does anyone know if the ps3 will then also be able to read the ps2 japan region games? or will we still have to mod or get a modded ps2 in order to play them. i'd love to be able to play ps2 games from japan on my ps3. that would be worth it's price right there.

my solution was calling sony.  i have had 2 slimlines within the last year go bad.  luckily both under warranty.  i bought the first one last october 23rd.  by december it stopped reading the discs.  the brand new replacement stopped reading discs 2 weeks ago, so it lasted a bit longer.  in both cases, the DRE came from out of the blue.  it worked... and then it didn't work.  with the last one i had a brand new katamari disc i played for a couple days.  never took it out of the ps2.  then one day it stopped working.  it wouldn't read anything.  and believe me, i keep my stuff looking new.  i've also heard of people having problems with overheating.  i've never encountered my slimline doing that, so it wasn't heat related.  right now, UPS has my replacement and i'm going to get it tomorrow.  :)

i don't see any info on their site about a replacement online start-up disc.  i'd call their customer support.

i bought a slimline last october 23rd.  in the first week of december i was sending it back to Sony to be replaced.  it stopped reading the discs.  Sony was super fast about replacing it.  this year on october 8th, the replacement stopped reading discs, so now i am waiting for Sony to replace that one.  i can't wait to get it back.  i've never had any overheating issues, even after playing it for around 12 hours straight.  i do have the vertical stand and that might help keep it a few degrees cooler, since more surface area is exposed to the air.  my ps2's (SCPH70012) just stopped reading the discs without any warning.  maybe Sony knew there would be lots of problems and that's why Sony gives the slimline a 1 year warranty versus 90 days with the older ps2.  or maybe Sony is just learning more about customer care and service.
