no it doesnt mean your console will go red death shorty. it just means that if M$ really did up the power going to the fans with the last dash update your console is just louder because the fans are operating at a higher level to cool the console better. (although i dont know if a dash update can make the fans moe powerful) im just saying that you should play the console and not worry. if it does go red death your repair will be free. red death sucks but M$ will eventually fix it. just might take time (we might even be forced to go outside and see the sun) ewww. lol
alot of you are syaing thatyour consolewill freeze orgo RED DEATH then work fine for a while. most of the time this is because the soldered connections crack and lose their connection.(cold solder joint) it starts working again because you most likely left your 360 on long enough for the cold solder joint to get warm enough to expand and reconnect to the board. Thats why the towell trick works (google it) but that wont last forever the 360 will eventually die
anyone know the average time for repair in Canada? mine just broke, again. no red lights this time, it just wont read the discs...im f***ed for halo3zedjay
i doubt this is whats wrong but try a dvd lense cleaner it may just be dirty. (but i doubt it) the average time in canada is 4-6 weeks i believe but ive herd others in forums say they went as long as 2 1/2 months. although you may have to pay for the repair as i believe only red death issues were extended to 3yrs check with M$. but i suggest if you have your recept still, try gettting an exchange first. (you got nothing to lose by trying) if you talk to a manager you might be able to talk them into doing that. ive been lucky in those instances, im on my 3rd 360 and was able to get a new one the same day they broke.

ive herd a few people in various forums say that there consoles got louder after the last dash update.they figured the update must of uped the amount of power going to the fans that cool the console down. i dunno if they can evven do that but if they can it makes sense since all the red death issues come from over heating. i suggest playing the console normaly because only red light issues were uped to 3yrs in there warrenty, everything else is either 30 or 90 days i dont remember which. so if you wait till it goes red death the repair is free.
my xbox 360 broke i got the 3 lights about a good 15 times and when i didnt get the lights my screen would freeze and it would go all blocky. I called MS and they are sending me the box and what not. but now i tried it again after i got off the phone and it is working flawlessly. I dont know what to do. Do i send it to them!? or do i wait it out after i get the box? What if i send it and it works for them do they do some sort of diagnostic test?blah i dont want to send it have it work for them then i get it back and have it bite the bullet.MegamanX97
ok your problem sounds like simple overheating, probly started working again because it had cooled down enough. if i was you id wait untill the box got there because it may go red death again. if it keeps working ok then call M$ and cancle the repair. if it goes red death again go to the site below, get the secondary error code itll tell you whats going on and possible solutions.
ive had my box for just over a year now (purchased aug 8 2006) and just now im starting to see some problems,more and more often when iput a disc in it says unplayable disc and the only way to get it to work is to disconnect from xbl turn off the console and try again it only seems to be reading discs when i am disconnected from live any ideasnyoe
there is a good chance its just getting dirty try useing a dvd lense cleaning disk. other then that all i can think of is the dvd drive is messed up might be timing out. although i think you would get a red light error code for that E64 displayed on a black screen (or some code like that. )

Could be your TV. If not, then congrats. You have joined the broken 360 club. Nah. It's not. Tried it on a few t.v.'s. And .. Well, thanks for the welcome .. I guess. Are you getting the screwed up screen when playing a game or all black screen? Time to call MS. Well, first I was playing Shadowrun, and the screen went all wacky, so i said I'd be right back and restarted, then the screen came up blank. And I called MS and they told me to try a new cord. I guess I owe them a call back. The screen is commonly caused by an overheating/ failing graphics adapter/GPU. The only way to fix that would be to get a 360 with the 65nm processor( which some fool on SW claimed it wouldn't help). They aren't out yet. Call MS and tell them you got the RoD(unless you bought your 360 within a year). If you did get it within the 1 yr period, tell them the screen was messing up and you did some research and saw that the graphics adapter is failing and request that they install a 65nm processor when you send it in. But if they send it back to you and it fails again( most likely will be a broken replacement), if you have the Premium, switch it for an Elite at your local retailer. After that and your Elite fails, it's time to give the BBB a call.
not a bad idea. but ive herd that
1) only the GPU will be 65nm
2)the 65nm chips will be on a new motherboared code named "falcon"
so they may not fit on your board. and as for the elites same crap in a black case. but theres a 50/50 chance itll have a benq dvd drive there better. although they dont fix rrod issues

i assume your not getting the "red death"? (since you said you got sound but no pic)
i read in another forum (guy had exact same thing sound no pic no red lights) that moisture may have caused this. he went on to saythat he called M$ for a repair order the next day, the box came the day after thet. (console has been offand unpluged for 2 days now)said that he pluged it in and turned it on just for the hell of it. and it worked. he called M$ back cancled the order and the best answer they had was that moisture may have affected it. so my suggestion is that you leave the console unpluged for a while or if you dont wanna wait that long unplug it completely vid cord and all. blow some hot air in the back of the console with a hair dryer for a half hour or so. dont stick the hair dryer right against the console, leave some room you dont wanna make it too hot wan wrect the console. although this may make things worse if your househas a good air conditioner

yea it works, i have a couple of friends who voided there warrenties doing a firmware flash. when there consoles went belly up they asked me to see if i could find a fix because ive built and sold a few custom gaming pc's, so they figure better to let me try then them. theram fails becausethe solder that holds the chips to the board cracks over time, which causes a "cold connection" to the board. if you heat the chips the the solder expands and reconnects, what the eraser does as far as i can tell, is slightly push the memory chip up into the board keeping the cracked solderconected.an eraser also expands with heat so its afix that will last longer then the infomas towel trick which is a temporary fix. although there is noguarente that the eraser thin would be permanent. always send it to M$ first. im on my 3rd 360 and even though i know how to fix it, i wont.why void the warrenty when something else can go wrong thati may not know how to fix.
