@ianhh6: whenever I hear the name "Mumford and Sons" I think of Sanford and Son. I can't be the only one who does that, can I?

@Serraph105: From what I remember he was misinterpreted. He didn't really say he wanted the wall, but it sounded like it because he was talking about something else when someone mentioned the wall.

As regards the unionism issue, I wouldn't say he was being a jerk, you're just disagreeing with his political decision. He did what he thought would help stimulate the economy and balance the state budget. It may have made it harder for some folks, but I don't think it's fair to impugn his character over that. It's just like in my state, we have budget difficulties, so the state raised taxes in 2011 and again this year. The higher taxes are of course a hardship to most people, and probably hurtful to the overall economy of the state, but I wouldn't say that our governor was being a jerk. He was just doing what he thought was best for the state given the options before him. So I don't think it's fair to dislike Walker personally just because you don't agree with some of his policies.

I'm indifferent. If someone wants to take an unpaid internship for a short while, then that their prerogative if they can find someone willing to offer them one. I don't like the idea of working and not being paid unless a person is volunteering for charity, or a family member or friend, but internships look good on a resume and may help someone to acquire some skills and experience. If all internships had to be paid, companies would obviously offer less internships. But interns are not being compensated like employees, so they shouldn't be treated like them; employers shouldn't expect interns to commit as much of their time to the internship or prioritize it as highly as employees would, and employers should try to make sure their interns actually learn something rather than simply using them as lackeys to do things even the employees wouldn't due.

But in a way, it's better to go on welfare than to accept an unpaid internship: an unpaid intern works but doesn't get paid, someone on welfare gets paid but doesn't work!

@Gaming-Planet: No, he doesn't want a wall at the northern border. That has been debunked.

@mattbbpl: I wouldn't say no difference. Any two people will have differences, but I think the differences have been exaggerated. Francis is basically operating in continuity with his most recent predecessors.

@supa_badman: I don't know off-hand whether Jesuits are the most common priests in Latin America. They are the biggest male religious order worldwide if you count the different branches of Franciscans as separate groups, but if who count all the Franciscans as one order I think they outnumber the Jesuits. Overall, my guess would be that most priests are not members of a religious order but are instead diocesan priests, though I think the religious order priests have been more influential in terms of missionary activity than the diocesan ones have.

@jasean79:I think Mater_Live is just being sarcastic. I could be wrong though.

@Serraph105: Be nice. Walker might be a very nice man, you've never met him, you never know.

Maybe the US should do what the other Euros do. Let the illegals pass through to Canada.

I don't think they want to come here, too cold and taxes are too high.

And the bacon's not as good either!

Yes. Not often though, usually just when I get an email from facebook saying I have a notification, or when it's one of my facebook friends' birthdays, to go wish them a happy birthday. Occasionally i'll share a news article.

I don't upload photos of my self, my profile photo is usually changed seasonally with me rotating among a few Windows XP background photos (and one picture of a puppy in a Santa hat on a pillow for Christmas time) depending on what time of year it is.

But then again i've heard that there is a big problem with many cancer drugs: people in the U.S. and other countries can easily afford them because insurance companies and government programs pick up most of the tab, but people in developing countries cannot afford such things and thus many of them die of cancers that they could have beaten if they were living in a different country.

And that is the biggest problem with the healthcare industry in this country. When insurance companies and government programs are paying for everything, they don't give a shit about the price. In fact, they actually like having shit be as expensive as possible, because it gives them an excuse to charge more for coverage (for the insurance companies), and demand bigger budgets (for the govt. programs). Since these insurance companies and government programs will pay almost any price, the providers of the products and services they pay for don't have to worry about being price-effective, they don't have to worry about being too expensive for their market, and often times they just charge ridiculous amounts because they can. If this bullshit system wasn't artificially driving up the price of medical care, your average young healthy person wouldn't need insurance. Because they're not likely to get sick, and if they do happen to have an accident or something and have to go to the ER for a broken bone or whatever, and pay for it out of pocket, it would't be THAT big of a deal. It'd be like, "damn that hospital bill means I can't buy a new video card til next month", or "guess I'll be a week late on rent", rather than "damn that hospital bill means I'll be in debt for the rest of my life".

Yeah, and it's like with this HHS mandate the Obama Administration is pushing so that all FDA approved female contraceptives must be covered by all insurance plans with no cost-sharing or copay so that the company foots the whole bill for the contraceptives. Democrats are portraying it as a big win for women, but really the big winners are the pharmaceutical companies who make these products since now that the people buying the pills aren't paying for them, they can jack up the price as high as they want and the insurance company is stuck paying for the whole thing, so of course they have to raise premiums.

Well now he's in the U.S.. It's too bad John Cena wasn't there to yell "the pope is here" when the plane landed, but Gov. Larry Hogan was there, unfortunately I don't think he's related to Hulk Hogan.
