What I took away from this presentation:
- Lips is, obviously, in direct competition with Sony's Sing Star series, and to me it's more compelling.
- Although Microsoft doesn't have a lot of Third-Party Exclusives, they seem to be the favourite platform to develop for on multi-platform games. They're also doing a good job of breaking up Sony's exclusive deals. (FFXIII anyone? Haha)
- Fable 2 is finished, which I fine surprising. The two player co-op doesn't sound incredibly deep to me, but we'll have to see what happens. The world seems to be quite fully realized, though.
-Gears of War 2 is more of the same, just with added depth and polish. That's definitely not a bad thing.
- I couldn't be more excited about the new layout of the dashboard. I think it's a brilliant that they would decide to further revolutionize the design, just as Sony's XMB is starting to settle into it's own. Personally, I like the Avatars, and find them much more compelling then Gamer Pics. My hope is that new clothing can be unlocked in games as you get achievements... Although, I hope they can avoid handing out too many Master Chief suits... ugh
- The Primetime idea is fantastic. I can't wait to watch/play 1 Vs. 100.
- The eight person party system could be a great way to make it easier for developers to implement a party system in their games. Eight player group chat is what I've been waiting for...
Microsoft is definitely bouncing back with this press conference. Although they won't have near as much depth to their game line-up this holiday, their upgrades to the firmware are great.
