@eze_sl89 Still enjoy WOS. The first amazing was okay. But what I want and everyone seems to want, is an actual hit.. a great one for Spider-man that stands on it's own and the test of time. For that to happen, a lot of things need to improve graphics, gameplay mechanics, story, consistency, polish etc etc.. and it all has to be there in the same game. It's asking a lot, but it is very much possible to do. This one has none of those.

@Sound_Demon they may have been good, but most were not great. There hasn't been a great one in a loong time. This current one is kinda a slap in the face to people as it isn't even next gen graphics wise. It feels hacky, lazy and rushed. another greedy cash grab attempt by activision. If Activision put half as much effort into a Spider-man game as they do with COD, they might have been able to put together something better..

@ksbwings I wouldn't mind the imitation if they did it right and improved everything else as well. There's nothing wrong with trying to catch up with the arkham series, but if they are going to try to do it, then do it right! They didn't even come close. More of a half assed attempt to look like arkham but they butchered it in the execution. Zero polish and attention to all the details like in the arkham games. Buggy glitchy camera and controls. They need to dump all the old graphics and game assets from the past games and just start over big time. Preferably with a new developer that can think outside the box and has a proven track record and give them a flexible fair amount of time to do it right.

@TomMcShea @cavs25 Hey Tom. Good review here. Personally I think you could have got away with a 4 on this one but I'm just frustrated and tired with activision's lack'nvision on so many missed spider-man opportunities to hit one outta the park so I'm being fairly hard on this one admittedly. I have the crazy notion in my head of a spider-man game at least on par with the graphics and game play fun of the arkham games but apparently that is impossible for spidey sadly :(

@diddlesps3 maybe in that it was different. wasn't as open world per se. I wouldn't say it was much better though. Since that game came out, standards have gotten a lot higher, so by today's standards then no the first one wasn't really better.

@El_Zo1212o I agree they've made some progress, but why so slow? I mean the bar has been raised way higher already. I guess I just don't see them trying very much if they can't improve more than this in nearly a decade. Maybe they aren't properly motivated? Obviously something needs to change a lot more if spider-man games are ever to catch up to today's potential. I take issue with tie-ins because a majority of them are debatably bad to average and often times are not given the time and resources to make something really special that stands the tests of time.

@El_Zo1212o there's no motivation for "keeping at it" it's freaking monotonous and boring game play. Dude, the game sucks. I wish it didn't but it does. By today's standards? Hell yes it stinks. I wish it didn't but it does. There is nothing new or improved in this game.. it's more rehashed re-used graphics.. either rushed or zero effort made in making a good game. By supporting it, you are basically saying, okay, thank you Activision sir, may I have another. Mediocre is putting it nicely in reviewing this thing. Could be worse sure, but it also could be waaaay better.

To the developers and game rights owners: Please. Please for the love of all things Spider-man, STOP with the rushed movie tie-in games. Just spend some quality time developing a Great Spider-man game that stands on it's own regardless of what is playing in theaters and you will get TONS of money and praise from gamers everywhere. If you do it right, they including myself, will flock to it. Doing it right: Great graphics, fun game play. Look to the Arkham games for inspiration and some tips, but don't bother trying to copy that formula if you can't get it right (like in this game). Example, whenever Spider-man is talking to someone in this game, he looks like he cracked out lol. Graphically, aside from some of the open world, things still look cartoony a bit too much... let's move along to next gen graphics already.
