I understand your point. However, this developer now has a pattern of downplaying this game. Check out this posting (http://au.gamespot.com/news/most-wont-finish-hitman-absolution-says-director-6384588) where they said that they were sad that only about 20% of people would finish HItman: Absolution. They even said that people would get bored with it prior to completing it.
I just don't think that this approach of lowering expectations is a good way to market a game. It gives me an uneasy feeling about the game's quality, length, technical soundness, etc.
Anyhow, since I'm a big fan of the Hitman series, I'll definitely be looking for the reviews and will buy the game if the player feedback is solid. Still, Square Enix has an odd way of stirring up pre-release interest in the game.
Not a good sign that they are making excuses before the game even comes out. Reminds me of what Bethesda said about the PS3 version of Skyrim which was a mess of a game.
Seems like a good story, and I love the Morrowind revisit. Haven't bought Skyrim yet, but will definitely be picking up the GotY edition for X360 whenever it comes out.
I've been holding off on getting Skyrim for Xbox until the release of a GotY edition with all DLC included. I'll eventually come, trust me. In the meantime, move along people. Nothing to see here....
Given how buggy Skyrim is on PS3, Bethesda really should offer free DLC to PS3 owners as a gesture of good will. Even if the DLC is unstable for some, no one could complain since it would be free. Also, Bethesda would get a much-needed PR boost.
One thing is for sure. If the game is as buggy and/or incomplete as past Obsidian games, they won't be able to blame it on the publisher's deadlines as they usually do.
I consider this a do-or-die project for Obsidian. No more excuses this time.
Job well done, gentlemen. Replayed Baldur's Gate 2 earlier this year--it's still a masterpiece. My son is still hooked on Mass Effect 2 (after countless playthroughs), and I'll be following Dragon Age 3. On this solemn occasion, we won't get into the whole EA/Origins DRM business that forced me to get ME3 on PS3. Anyhow, happy trails to you both; it's been a great ride.
Yeah, I hope it works out too, Legolas. I did think that the single-player campaign in NWN2 was better than the original. I'm just put off by Obsidian's track record regarding quality control.
Anyhow, I may revisit his game, especially if it gets good reviews and favorable player feedback. And I am intrigued by the kickstart model--I'm presently following 2 other games funded in this way (Defense Grid 2 and Grim Dark).
