I wish that I'd kept a record of every thread I've read over the past 9 years that foretold the coming of The Next Video Game Crash. I would just post the links in threads like this one and everyone would ignore them.

Not really. They play games, and I like games.

It's Penguins. It's been decided

It should be LCD's, cause that's the shitty type of TV that hermits use :cool:

Eww, LCD. You'll have to pry my plasma TV out of my cold, dead hands.

Capcom is in pretty rough shape, both in terms of money and in terms of the quality of their games. I think Monster Hunter is the only thing keeping them afloat at this point.

I don't think that anybody likes them, but this forum isn't for discussing them.

[QUOTE="Yangire"]

[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]I wouldn't call games with no checkpoints, cheap deaths and harsh learning curves "challenging". Games from the old days weren't hard, they were cheap. They were also short and required more memorization than actual application of skill.Murderstyle75

Then what would you call it? Punishing? Whatever you call it those aspects still make games harder.

And what on earth is wrong with a learning curve? How is a learning curve cheap? Were resident evil games cheap because you actually had to solve real puzzles? Were racing games cheap because you didn't have a suggested line or the ability to just rewind a mistake or a better run from the AI? I guess bowling is cheap too because there are gutters. I don't understand why people want to spend $60 on a game that practically plays itself.

Ideally a learning curve is matched with the rate at which you actually learn the mechanics of the game. This means you have fun while learning the game, instead of getting frustrated and throwing your controller.
