alright, so all i gotta buy is a HDD,CD-DVD rom, and power supply. he kept all those parts. Alright, i dont know the exact spec names, but this is what I know. Motherboard: ionoRam: 1 gig DDR(not DDR2)Vid card: quadro 4400(125 or 256 i have no idea)CPU: amd 64 4000+
what should i upgrade?i dont know if the motherboard supports DDR2...is DDR2 that much better than DDR?
thanks!six_shot
Already I know that the motherboard CANNOT support DDR2, since it is made for DDR. The pin placement between the DDR and DDR2 are completely different, so you will need to get a motherboard that supports DDR2.Yes DDR2 is faster than DDR. The question of "better?" depends on the manufactuer.
First I would check your BIOS to see if your on-board motherboard soundcard is enabled.
The best way I've found to find the information is to download The Belarc Advisor This program will list everthing on your computer in a handy HTML format, and give you huge amounts of useful information about drivers, security patches, as well as all ofyour installation information.
This should make it easier to find what driver will work for you.
Definitely worth getting more RAM, 2Gb (or higher if you have 64 bit)
I use an AGEIA PhysX card, and it does make UT3 run smoother, with briliant effects.
I also have a CreativeLabs X-Fi card, I like it for the EAX quality, as well as the true 7.1 THX, I will say any soundcard is a grand improvement over built-in motherboard audio.
I launch Half Life 2 and when It loads after the Valve logo has been shown, it shuts down the game and displays this error message: ''Engine Error'' Platform Error: module failed to initialize.
What causes this? Im running windows vista..

You answered your own question.
Reformat reinstall with Windows XP and the game will run flawlessly.
