I know about the Xenoverse series being a platform for Dragon Ball OCs. Especially if they're Saiyans.

Anyway, yeah this game idea I have is based on my own OCs within the DB universe. I want to use MUGEN for it, either that or the DS engine provided by Microsoft. The game is supposed to be different from Extreme Butoden in that there's three dozen fighters that are ACTUALLY playable. Not like EB which tells everyone "there's 100 characters" but only six are really playable and the rest are just side assistance moves. What a damn ripoff.

And as far as the gameplay, here me now when I say I WANT FRICKIN' PLANETS TO BLOW UP AS PART OF THE FINISHING MOVES. About six of my fighters are villains, the rest are neutral or "the good guys." I'm not sure if all my OCs should do it, but I want them to do finale techniques where the opponents die horribly and the whole stage gets ripped apart enough to show the planet's f**ked. For Saiyan characters, they can Zenkai Boost and go Great Ape. These are features that past Dragon Ball games have never cared about. Not even Xenoverse.

The reason I'm asking "should I do this for fun?" is 'cause I'm not Toriyama and could face a lawsuit if I try to sell it. A really ugly lawsuit. So it's possible I'll be the only one playing it when it's finished. :(

But what do you think? I've thought of calling it Dragon Ball Nexus.

I'm about to download the latest version. I know it's free but is it worth it when it comes to copyright? Will I own at least some rights to my work? How would I owe Epic in terms of revenue ( the money I make independently with my game )?

Thanks

@suicidesn0wman: I'm basically building from scratch, ie at the drawing board. But you're right, I should get familiar and start small first. I don't know what the "Roll-A-Ball" thing from Unity is supposed to teach beyond controls for a simple 3D construct, but there's probably other ways to get through Square 1.

Also I can imagine that starting off with Blender means taking squares and turning them into vertical rectangles.

All I know about the game is what I read on the back, you're a modern ninja on a mission to rid a city of monstrous parasites. I think it's one the last 360 games to come out.

@Macutchi: Thanks. By "tedious" I meant to say "long and challenging," like Skyrim's.

And I'm sure a game like this could do well for the PC alone, Steam in particular. I also want to make sure it's Steam controller-friendly.

@pyro1245: I want my game to be cartoonish 3D. Maybe cell shades would work too, but I don't want to try it until I get the basic look premise handled.

Also I'm not sure about Unreal. I won't own the rights to my work, I read their policy. It pops up as soon as you do so much as make an account before download.

Okay...so, I've noticed how funny science fiction is seeing a resurgence with TV and movies ( The Orville, Guardians of the Galaxy, etc ). But there's barely any representation of this genre in video games. I'm looking to change this as best I as I can.

If anything, this is something that's got to involve a full team, not just me. But for now all I can do is experiment with Blender and Unity.

All I can say about my game is that I want it to have character creation at the beginning from one of twelve species ( including humans ), and the player goes on from there to complete a tedious main quest. There's supposed to be humor and funny elements of everything from the combat to dialogue to side quests.

I feel like this could work if it was on platforms like the One and PS4. Not giving anything else away, as it's still just an idea in my head. So any advice?

Hmmm. That's both a thinker and a good question.

What kind of game would you want with a protagonist like this? Platformer? Or where you can fly?
