@Archaicc: It's worth noting that, with the titles you are referring to, those developers weren't really a thing before Sony acquired them. They became the developers they are now while under Sony's umbrella. With that said, there's nothing wrong with what MS did with Bethesda... it's all part of the business!
@xnshd: I'm not so sure... MS doesn't seem as intent on exclusivity as much as proliferating their games everywhere. I could be wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if most of these titles are timed exclusives on XSX before migrating. 7.5 billion is a lot of money to spend... they will get a much quicker return if they put their games everywhere. In the end, the bottom line is what it's all about.
@bdrtfm: Selfishly I hope you are right, and that these games still arrive on Playstation consoles. I really don't want to have to buy both! It does seem that MS is more interested in proliferating their games everywhere, whereas Sony is more focused on the traditional console model. But I have to imagine that maybe one or two big hitters will stay Xbox/PC only in order to drive console sales... maybe a new IP like Starfield?
I'm definitely more of a Playstation guy... and I have to say, this is stunningly big news MS. My guess is that the exclusives will take a few years to trickle in (Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6 are probably a ways off), but wow. I think it's interesting that MS and Sony are going in such different directions, even as far as internal devs go. MS is definitely doubling down on what is traditionally "PC-oriented" content (like CRPG devs for instance), and Sony is targeting more narrative-driven action-adventure crowd. Now I'm going to have to buy both consoles. Dammit!
No surprise here really... the 360 is still the lead platform for third-party development, so it will get a slight nod in cross-platform games. The PS3's power gives it more potential, but for now, it is only realized in the exclusives, like Uncharted 2 and Killzone.
Agree w/ali-009. This whole "OH MY GOD!!! There is one pixel in the corner that looks sharper on the Xbox and then the one reflection on the guys helmet looks better on the PS3" argument is almost funny. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
I have both systems and I play them pretty equally. The Xbox has the nod in RPG's (Fable, Mass Effect) and shooters (Gears, Halo 3), but the PS3 has better action/adventure games (Ratchet, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, MGS4, LBP, etc). But what I am noticing more now than ever is that most of the really great games are on both systems anyway. Either system is a great pick as almost all the really great games will be on both, with only a handful of exclusives being missed.
