@soulstyce: DQXI would be a step in the right direction, but would that many people buy an entire console to get a Gamepass deal on one game they can already get on PS4 and Switch? I just think the Japanese market is a tough one for an American company to crack... and it's not as vibrant of a console market as it once was, as the focus there seems to be more on portable gaming.

@Lach0121: Count me in for Parasite Eve! SE has soooo many old titles they could go back to, but just refuse to.

On the one hand, it's refreshing to see that each console manufacturer seems to be creating their own unique space with first-party titles. On the other hand, I now have to buy both consoles. Dammit.

@dlCHIEF58: LOL I'm glad you think I'm so young! What I meant was that they were relatively niche in comparison to what they became after Halo... Mac gaming itself was not incredibly mainstream then. I'm not saying Bungie was garbage before Halo, just that MS acquiring them at that point in their history is not really comparable to the Bethesda acquisition, since Bethesda is already a household name with mega-franchises.

Seeing games like Myth or Marathon (both very high quality from what I've seen) and recognizing the talent was there for a huge blockbuster that appealed to the mainstream was incredibly insightful.

@bababooey12: I'm not knocking Everwild... it could be really cool. I think the art style is very engaging. But we don't at this moment really even know what kind of game it is. I wasn't knocking SOT either... again, based on what I've heard about it's evolution it's become a nice game. I was just referencing that Rare used to be at the same level of developer that we now look at Rockstar, Nintendo EPD, Naughty Dog, etc.

As far a "constant cry for seeing gameplay"... uh, yeah most people want to see SOME type of gameplay before a game releases! That's not new. But you are correct that with Gamepass, you can just try it out without shelling out extra dough, which is a great perk. Before I purchase or spend time with a game, I typically want some idea of what the gameplay is like. I don't think that's a particularly unique position.

@kusawithgunz: That would be my guess... I think most of the big-name titles (Fallout, Doom, Elder Scrolls) will be timed exclusives. I wouldn't be surprised if some other titles remained XB/PC exclusive.

@saint311: Have they even shown Everwild gameplay yet? I'm probably dating myself here, but you have to understand that Rare used to be INCREDIBLE... they were some of the best top-tier developers in the world. SOT is a fine game and all, but Rare used to be a standard-setter. With that said, blaming MS for their downfall isn't really fair... their top talent was starting to move on before MS bought them.
