@bluefox755 @edjos By all means, put it on your desk. I'm not stopping you. I won't be the one that has to explain why you have a dismembered torso. Maybe you like the controversy. Maybe you like shocking people. Do whatever you like. bluefox755, you're right. I can completely ignore it and I absolutely intend to. However, when a non-gamer looks at this statue, this will stick out in their minds as what the gaming community as a whole wants to buy. If Deep Silver made 20 of these and never sold one, the fact that it was sitting on a store shelf would draw judgement about us and our hobby. Even Deep Silver judged us and assumed everyone would get so excited to buy one that they would run out and preorder it. As a gamer, I am guilty by association. I am automatically placed into the "weirdo" and "so hardcore I'd buy this crap" categories.
You can argue that we kill zombies and soldiers and hookers in games all day long. But, take a dead body out of it's game, and it's a just dead body. Remove the context of how it happened, and no one will understand how it died and why the hell you decided to display it for everyone to see.
@bluefox755 @rogue81 @digitaltiger It makes it more difficult for the rest of the world to take us seriously when we're seen standing proudly, holding our dismembered torsos.
@Devbinks If it were the decaying, gray mass of bikini wearing zombie flesh, it would make for a pretty cool zombie slayer trophy. It isn't a zombie though... it's a fresh victim. Who decapitates and dismembers healthy, innocent people? Who would want to keep the corpse? That's messed up.
@bluefox755 @rogue81 @digitaltiger When the rest of the world looks at us (the gaming community) as crazy, the "wussification" will be forced down our throats.
@garyhal @CharlieSpot @jsmoke03 It's not a zombie torso. It still has color to it. This is a zombie victim. The zombie that took her head has just started walking away and has begun snacking on her face.
@bluefox755 @digitaltiger Well, you should worry about what people think, especially when they're politicians trying to pass bills that would tax mature rated games in order to support the medical care of anyone exposed to violent video games. She used the word "exposed", like it's frickin radioactive.
