@SythisTaru Should the game have been released before it was working as intended? If this is the game we were given, there's no reason not to grade it harshly.

So EA is going to spend a boat load of money upgrading their servers just in time to realize their burned customers don't want to play anymore and EA no longer needs the upgrades they just paid for. Sound planning.

I got to play for about 10min tonight. Simcity crashed and when I logged back in to the game, I got a message saying my server was full and I'd have to wait for another 20min before it attempts to log back in to my server... Yay, I get to wait longer than I got to play for.

@games_are_fun71 Sony hasn't put any creative constraints on the PS3 at all. Developers, however, have been complaining that current hardware is keeping them back. They've been saying they need a new console to push the sales of their games.

I think the people complaining are mistaken. I don't think it's the long console cycle that's pushing smaller developers away like these articles point out. I think it's the cheaper production costs and the higher profit margin that social games and Android and IOS games offer. The business is changing. These AAA publishers are pinning their hopes of success on the coat tails of new hardware when all they're offering are sequels (Infamous, Killzone), cross platform games (Watch Dogs), and a couple low profile IPs (Knack, The Witness) that look like they could run just fine on current hardware.

So if this is what we have to look forward to, then we don't have much to look forward to.

@RealFabioSooner You make it sound like I'm rooting for the Xbox to kick Sony's ass. Really, I'm not at all excited about the upcoming generation of hardware. In my initial post, I was simply summarizing what I got from the article, and I happen to agree with the writer's point of view. Game developers have been crying about this long console cycle stifling their creativity, and when they get a new system to play with, they give us two sequels and two minor IPs. The sequels look great, but they aren't really a creative stretch. The two new IPs look creative, but they don't look like they need the PS4 powerhouse to bring them to life.

So yes, I'm disappointed. I haven't seen anything to warrant purchasing the new system and I doubt Microsoft will fair much better.

@deftones2366 This was the PS4s first impression, and Sony missed a major opportunity to show everyone how their new console is a major improvement over the PS3. If they are holding things back for E3, then they should have just waited for E3. Sony's biggest selling point were the social aspects, and really they do absolutely nothing for me. Right now, I'm not impressed.

@games_are_fun71 He pointed out that devs and publishers have been complaining about the "creative constraints" of current gen hardware, then all they showed were sequels and social games. No one is creatively pushing anything. Aside from Ubisoft showing Watch Dogs again, no one is really taking the AAA ball and running with it. So Sony touts its new console, saying it can do this and it can do that, but they don't show us. There's a difference between what it will do and what it does. Right now, it doesn't do much.

@hackerrei Check the Metacritic score. Kevin's score is right in line with the average. Maybe every reviewer out there is getting too old to enjoy games... Or maybe the game really is a solid 7.5?

@DurdenBR What's wrong with doing some research before hand just to make sure you aren't wasting $60 on a giant POS? I used to buy new games right at release, but I've been burned way too many times. Now, a game has to score at least a 7 for me to consider buying it brand new.

@Keitha313 Check our the Metacritic score. Gamespot's score is right in line with everyone else. So either the publisher didn't pay anyone off, or the game really is that bad. Pick one.
