@theKSMM: It's a cloying, fraudulent courtesy, and one that nobody really asked for. If people who whined about hurt feelings were such honest do-gooders, they'd devote their time and energy to more worthy causes like helping the homeless, orphans, the infirm and the elderly. But that would require actual involvement and not just airing grievances on social media.
For the record, I'm in favor of equality. Either everyone's sensibilities should be protected to the utmost degree, which would be an insanely complicated, if not impossible, process. Or nobody's feelings should be protected and people should just learn to ignore the things they don't approve of. That's one of the trade-offs for living in a diverse society.
@theKSMM: Excessive censorship is always grounds for outrage.
And it won't end with the elimination of the "offending" animation. Every time these snowflakes achieve these infinitesimal victories it emboldens them to seek out something else to be outraged about. They do it over and over and over because the outrage isn't genuine. They only do it to feel a sense of accomplishment and moral superiority because they're unhappy in their own failed lives.
@andrew134: Putting aside the fact that Cloud and Bayonetta were non-Nintendo DLC characters, I'm just going to point out that the author of the article's list is just as unrealistic as mine.
Don't let your literal-minded autism prompt you into jumping down peoples' throats for no good reason.
@andrew134: another nonsense response. may I remind you this list was posted over 9 months ago and with no actual expectation for these characters to be added to the game.
This movie is shaping up to look more like a parody than a sincere adaptation.
I think Honest Trailers should release their own mock up of this premise so that when the official trailer gets released, people won't be able to distinguish between the two.
@olddadgamer: Video game movies will get better when studios start putting people in charge of production who actually have a passion for the source material as well as talent.
For all the progress comic book movies have made, they're still churning out the occasional piece of garbage (mostly Warner Bros.) because they appoint pretentious psychos in charge who all have their own unique vision which directly conflicts with what the fans want.
Sony has always been head-over-heels in love with the latest technology. They have little hindsight and therefore rarely pay any heed to the value of older style games nor possess the bygone skill of recreating the requisite hardware to play them.
This culture of forced political correctness makes me want to puke.
Native American references that Native Americans don't give a damn about being removed from Nintendo games? Where will this slippery slope end?
Mario's an exaggerated Italian stereotype, is that part of the company's values?
And what's with all this "princess saving"? Is misogyny part of their values?
And what about Pokemon? These "trainers" running around in foreign lands, capturing various beings and forcing them to engage in intense physical activity for their benefit? Sounds a lot to me like... SLAVERY!!! Is THAT one of the company's values?
Or are these simply harmless video games and panicky people should stop giving a damn that no one asked them to?
