Weird...all I remember about the original Assassin's Creed is the exact same three game mechanics and flag collecting. Over and over and over and over. It felt more like a graphics tech demo than a modern game. IMO it was Brotherhood that removed the restrictions and really turned the player loose -- I feel that is the best game of the series by quite a large margin -- and I enjoyed dabbling in the new multiplayer (which I was sick of by the time Revelations came out).

An article for Sony fanboys that I'm sure will make them feel REEEEEALY good about themselves.

I don't like collecting things or accumulating stuff. Digital all the way.

I'm not convinced that playing such a simplistic game would hold my interest for very long. I don't necessarily disagree with the article but I think it should have been mentioned how gamers tend to look at older games through rose-coloured glasses. IMO the last several NHL games have been the best in the series. I love their complexity and anyone can overcome the learning curve with a little time put in. If sports games were "dumbed down" to appeal to the more casual gamer I would no longer buy them, but it's a great idea this year to put NHL 94 in there.

Everybody is a fanboy but with varying degrees of intelligence:

1. Smart fanboys seek out what they want and enjoy what they have.

2. Average ones generally do #1 but occasionally feel the need to "defend their own".

3. The dumber ones feel the need to spend a disproportionate amount of time trashing what they don't even own. These are generally younger individuals who have yet to outgrow their "me" phase and mistakenly believe the world hangs on their every word.

4. The really, really dumb ones do #3 only with poor spelling and grammar. These people may have stunted intellectual growth or perhaps may be compensating for other issues such as inadequate genitalia.

@HucklePeel Sounds pretty logical. I think the negative publicity was starting to reach a fever pitch, hence the "leak".

I'm a big fan of the Xbox brand, have been since Day 1. My internet connection is very stable. It will be interesting to see what happens on May 21, but there is a growing amount of evidence from legitimate sources that suggests Xbox 720 games will NOT be playable unless the console is connected to Xbox Live. If this is the case, then the Xbox 720 console will not meet my needs, since I take my 360 to the cottage (which has no broadband service). I'll be going with Sony, who has already confirmed that PS4 will not require an "always on" connection. Microsoft has not, which speaks volumes.

Awesome. A well-known AAA series that hasn't dumbed down its SP. Looks fantastic! Great review, Carolyn. I'll be buying this game because of it.

I like the idea of going further back instead of a modern setting. The beginning of the Dark Ages would be pretty cool. You could even do a trilogy, following a bloodline right up to Renaissance.
