A collector edition without a physical copy is idiotic as ****. Typical of Microsoft cutting corners, first they botched MCC and now this shit. Though the bots are gonna attack me for speaking these facts, I don't care.

Hey get used to it or get out of the hobby. Seriously, its annoying as hell seeing people complain about a plastic disc that gets installed the first time you place it in your console. This is the way of the future and discs will at some point go away. They are pointless.

They are not pointless. What happens when games are removed from servers? I still have all my NES/SNES/Gen games that I can play at a moment's notice. If you think console companies will keep these games around like Gog on PC then your crazy. I have over 300 X360 games taking up a whole bookshelf and that's okay because I have a feeling there's going to be some upset gamers in a couple years when they pull the plug, and I dont wanna be one of them. Tell me..will someone that has digital copies of X360 games be able to play those in 5,10 years? Answer that w/ a straight face. The Xbone is no different. I don't know about you..but when I but a game I expect to have it in my possession forever, or until something happens to it and then it's on me (less than 1% of my collection in over 25 years).

But the most powerful systems don't usually (if ever) win their generation, so why brag about it? . I thought that was general logic in console land.

This is why you build a powerful system

if Xbox one played games at higher resolution than ps4 i would never pickup single game on ps4

Games are not a console, they may define them, but they do not make them great as a system.

That makes no sense. What good was PS2 without games?

It makes perfect sense, every console plays games, but what is actually great about the console itself? How can a console be great because of the games it has? You can say "The PlayStation 4 had great games", but what is actually great about the system itself?

It's nothing remarkable.

I think it's backwards. A console is only as good as the games it has. I see what your saying that games and consoles are two different things.. but at the end of the day, for example, having a Wii U is only way you can play Bayonetta 2. So, games (mostly exclusive) in turn does define consoles (such as Wii U in this case). I think ppl put too much emphasis on other features and bells n' whistles and not the games themselves. My cousin has an Xbox 360 because it can do this and that (netflix, hulu, chat, etc) and now wants an X1 to take screenshots etc. All this is fine and dandy but damn shouldn't games be all that really matters?

Sorry if I misunderstood you.

I guess I never really understood gamers hunger for backwards compatibility. Just keep your old consoles and you never have to worry.

For me it's about having freeing up an hdmi input on my reciever. I'm already full up since everything now uses hdmi and don't feel like buying a new one. Also less clutter is a bonus.

Okay, and what about all the PSN games I paid for.. will they be gone forever? I know it's inevitable for them to close it down but how is all the unique and exclusive content going to be preserved?

I asked this in the Xbox thread, so I'll ask it here too. This will effect millions when they decide to pull the plug on the great PSN service for PS3. How long do you think they'll keep the service up, and do you think they will disable their 2 console limit per account thing before shutting down so we have more chance of preserving the stuff we paid for? What's your opinion?

That's exactly right. I'm starting believe that ppl in this day and age don't seem to care about ownership. As long as they can buy it, and play it, then that's all that matters to them. Where does all this disposable income come from? Call me old fashioned, but I believe you have the right to keep what you paid for in your possession forever whether it breaks on your or not.

Was originally a PC gamer until Microsoft decided to enter the console war.

What made you switch over? Was it Halo? Was it the PC-esque games that eventually made their way to the Xbox platform and the ease of use? I'm curious to know from ex-PC gamers.
