IMO I kind of agree with you.
I gave it a rent at first because I wasn't too sure. I was a little concerned about some of the technical issues mentioned in the review, and although they were present, the beginning was so great I didn't notice them anymore. After the rental period was up I ran out and bought it as soon as I dropped the game off. I continued to play and after a short amount of time I found that the combat just lost it's fun factor. The combat became very repetitive and almost way to easy for the rewards I was getting as far as experience goes. I was also getting very frustrated with the squad control and enemy AI. I mean it was getting way to easy. I also got tired of the recycled levels and other set elements. I began to notice that there was very little variation in weapon style and armor and IMO character customization and variety are a huge draw for me in an RPG. ESPECIALLY one based on a massive intergalactic drama with so much technology available to any one person. Only after It was only after I began to be bored with the gameplay that this all started to bother me. Then the final straw. The technical issues I learned to ignore in the beginning started to bother me. I started to notice the little graphical glitches and not so cleverly hidden load times and such.
All in all I stopped playing it altogether about 3/4 through because I completely lost interest. I am not trying to offend anyone here because I know that this game has a huge and loyal following and for many great reasons. My reasons for not playing it anymore and actually quite snobbish I guess, but I just thought that for all of the hype they would have ironed out some more game play and eliminated some quite obvious technical issues.

Has anybody even played it yet? When does the Beta go live? I have already got my key and downloaded it. Now I am at work waiting for 5:00.

I have had my 360 since launch. Well, a 360 since launch that is. I am on my 3rd console which never really bothered me too much because I always get an in store protection plan so I don't have to deal with shipping it back. I also saw my Elite burn out on me last month and had to get that replaced. My launch lasted longer than my elite. Haha. I picked up a PS3 last weekend mainly because we wanted Blu-Ray and it seemed like the smartest option. Plus it unlocks all of PS3's exclusives in the future. All in all I am very happy with my purchase. I know the controllers are still the same, sans rumble that is, but they feel very familiar which isn't all that bad. The graphics are great and Blu-ray looks amazing. Any game released for both systems I get for 360 like many others due to online. The only thing I really hate about the 360 is that I get the feeling that if I stare at is the wrong way it will die. I feel more confident in the PS3. Anyways, I think they are both great systems with their own strengths and weaknesses.

Agreed. The game is fantastic. And no the lack of unlimited respawns does not ruin the game. Being able to move without being spawn camped buy the same freaking guy all round is great! And the full scale multiplayer graphics are a much needed improvement over R6V1.

Yeah this took me a bunch of tries. I unfortunately at the time did not have the item that makes you immune to paralyze so if you don't have that it is still possible. The first snake isn't to bad at all. Always make sure that two of the charging insects are dead at all times. Three insects will not allow the snake to fully charge his magic before you kill him. Once you have killed two of them with Kaim and Seth, you can focus their attacks on the snake. I had aqua rings equipped on both of them to boost their attacks against the fire based snake. All the while I used Jansen to cast Aqua on the snake every turn. If you follow this rhythm you should be able to tackle the first snake with only absorbing some light attacks from the insects. The second snake obviously comes fully charged and nails you, paralyzing my under equipped team. Just make sure that you prioritize healing in round two. Especially after a blast because the insects will use magic called force that can often finish of a character after the snake casts parablast. Just try your hardest to keep everyone healthy and to get back into the rhythm from the first fight. You should be able to gauge the health of the snake based on the first round. Once you know he is weakened you can focus less on healing and more on just bum rushing him with reckless abandon. You may loose a character, or even two, but it should get you past it. When I tired to keep everyone healthy for the whole fight, casting cure all the time kept adding more and more rounds for him to charge parablast and I was not using Jansen's magic or The others attacks anymore to weaken the snake. You'll figure out when to switch after a try or two. Don't give up because the game gets really really good after you get through this.

Assassins Creed. Most fun I have had on my 360 in a long time.
