As a fan of the original CoD, 1 of possibly 3 legitimately good CoD games, was it too much to believe this game was going to revive the quality of CoD games?
@PrpleTrtleBuBum: They were always dirt. The thing with those hit games, a lot of them were from subsidiary studios that EA didn't pay much attention to and just threw some budget to make games. Once they became hits EA starts to take notice and then burn to the ground with their big budget marketing campaigns and enforced deadlines. Andromeda, Dead Space 3, even Mass Effect 3 was rushed.
Hilarious. EA makes games like they are running a business and they don't even know how to run a business. You have to know your target audience and then collect other data to combine and calculate sales projections, and you're not going to get Call of Duty level sales from a horror shooting game. Even RE7 has only hit 4 million after mass fan and critical acclaim. You could spend zero on marketing and probably still sell 4 million copies of Dead Space 2 since the first game established the franchise and had excellent word of mouth. Even non-AAA games without an established franchise like Nier Automata had zero marketing and has yet since sold 2 million copies.
