How detached from reality do you have to be to come up with excuses like this?

Yeah, people didn't see the new Hunger Games because they were saving up for a whole month to afford that $10 Star Wars movie ticket....

I can understand the attack in Paris affecting profits....in France. But I highly doubt that would equate to a $100 million loss.

Of course a studio would never admit to themselves they are the primary reason for the low ticket sales. They would never consider that the movie should never have been sliced in half, and should have just been a single, complete movie in the first place. It would never cross their minds that their own cynical greed is the reason for the comparatively low success.

It's kind of telling when all the games I would like to buy during this sale aren't available on the PS4. It's like Sony doesn't want my money.

Most people were unwilling to spend $600 on a PS3 when it launched. I don't think most people are willing to drop $600 on something as gimmicy as VR, and that's assuming they don't have to drop another $600-$700 on a PC that can actually use it. I know I'm not personally willing to drop that kind of money to be an early adopter of this kind of hardware, these sorts of things have a long history of dying a fast death.

I think another issue the Oculus in particular is going to suffer greatly from is that they had insisted for awhile now it wouldn't cost more than $300 for the public to get their hands on one.

@sargentpsgamer: Are you seriously suggesting Sony try and emulate EA? Sorry but I would rather the free games I get not be a cynical excuse to churn out more half hearted DLC that the impulsive and weak willed will blindly purchase because they were just handed a "free" game.

@Mogan: Only so long as they keep suckling at Activision's teat, and we've seen how well being Activision's butt boy goes with Infinity Ward.

@kazeswen: Your tonal dissonance is a problem. In one comment you bash these games with broad generalizations like "they are all the same" "rehash rehash" "mediocre". Then turn around and try and say you don't "hate" these games.

You're falling into the same pit most gamers who post on sites like this do. A total binary process of communication of your view point. There are varying degrees between "it sucks/it's mediocre" and "It's great". Given that, Is it really any wonder people just assume you're bashing games because they are getting high scores and are being well received by the gaming community?

Also your observations ignore one very important thing. It's not just innovation or "new" that impacts the score a game gets or how well people enjoy it. Destiny tried "new" and look at how that turned out. One year, microtransactions, and $80 of DLC later and the game is only just now starting to resemble something worthwhile.

Secondly you entirely ignore any improvements, or refinements these games you call reshashes made to the formula. As well as any polish the game has gained when put next to the previous. To ignore these minute changes (as well as any major ones. Which lets face it, you've been doing that too) that can make a game feel and play substantially different is doing yourself a disservice and only hurts your argument.

@kingvanimal: it is accessed through natural play of the main game yes. but the DLC doesn't make the base game any harder. Just the new areas are significantly harder than most of the base game if what i've read is correct.

@kazeswen: sorry but if you actually look at their reviews as a whole and not just cherry pick the 5 or 6 games that have been almost universally considered GOTY contenders, GS is actually much more harsh towards AAA games than most game review sites.

@akassassin11: I believe they added another Oath. But from what I understand is more focused on co-op.
