@Evil_Rage I disagree completely. As unpopular as this will make me, DRM is almost a guarantee in this day and age of piracy, but it can be implemented in a way that doesn't impede the consumer. Regardless of people's hate, it's here to stay. But you're really missing a huge point by naively stating Steam and origin are exclusively DRM.

Steam is an absolute powerhouse in digital purchasing and distribution which is completely optional with the exception of Valves' in house titles which are few and far between. The optional part is key here. People primarily use and buy games off Steam, because it offers the consumer a phenomenal price point when compared to Gamestop, Walmart, Best Buy, etc.

Origin is required. The only reason 45 million people use Origin is because they were forced to download and use it to play Battlefield, Sim City, Need for Speed, etc on PC. The price point is NOT competitive, and it does actually exclusively serve as DRM at this point.

Lumping these two in the same boat and saying neither is better or worse is incredibly naïve if you're actually purchasing titles digitally these days.

Guys, this is actually a good thing. Read the article. Disney will now be licensing the Star Wars universe out to companies that are more capable of producing high quality titles rather than these abundance of poor in house titles from Lucas Arts with Disney under funding the project due to poor performance in the past. This is the business side of gaming.

Was anyone here in love with Lucas Arts' games? Was Force Unleashed your favorite game? Stars Wars games will still be made just not by Disney/Lucas Arts.

@ViGery Soooo, I've never actually posted TL;DR, and I'm going to continue to abide by this principle, but GOOD LORD!? Your essay rant would absolutely justify its use

@cavs25 @never-named Yah, I just don't think you're critically analyzing the situation. Porting the game would produce a small profit, but could R* North be making a significantly larger profit by taking the resources used to port GTAV by instead throwing them into the development of whatever their next title would be? Would porting a title be a poor investment from a purely business stand point? They don't have indefinite resources and staff.

@never-named @cavs25 Spot on. San Adreas was released June 6th, 2005. The Xbox 360 was released November 20th, 2005.

@cavs25 Only a bit. The vast majority of console enthusiast who would buy a next generation console in the launch window already own a 360 or PS3. They are also the same people who would buy the game day one. Most casual gamers won't upgrade their console anywhere near the launch window and would be able to purchase the game on current generation hardware. The only potential audience R* could miss would be a smaller portion of the core audience who won't purchase the game within the first few months of release and are eager to purchase a next gen console, specifically the PS4 since we don't even have know of a release date for the next xbox.

Although, I'll agree that if they would've released this game on schedule in spring 2013, it would've made a hell of lot more sense so they wouldn't have to end up in this next gen fiasco.

@Xx_Kares_xX Here's an additional chart stating the 360 has sold approximately 42 millions units in North America compared to PS3's 26 millions units. While outside of North America, the 360 has sold approximately 34 millions units while the PS3 has sold around 47 million units.

Sooo yes, the PS3 does have more appeal outside of America, but 34 million units is hardly "not having worldwide appeal"

@Xx_Kares_xX I'm not sure if you're ignorant or a blinded fanboy, but regardless, he's saying that because the 360 and the PS3 are neck and neck this current generation. The 360 does have worldwide appeal. Both consoles have sold 70-75 millions units worldwide.

@TheAgingGamer @Prats1993 Not to mention, the save system Prats1993 mentions in his comment frequently doesn't work. Kevin mentions this in his video review. Why people are defending EA and Maxis for releasing a broken game is beyond me. Are you that big of a SimCity fanboy that you would just give them money for an unplayable product? If so, why not just donate the money? Save Maxis the time and energy of developing the game.
