it's mainly about the rails within the psu, but to answer your question: yes. it also depends on if you're powering other things like hdds, optical drives, lights, fans. but, that little thing is tough.
the difference between a 280 and 285 isnt significant enough to justify paying more. especially with the prices of 280s coming down on the egg. id look into just getting a 280.
