@faithxvoid: They could remake the Gabriel Knight, Hexen and Blackthorne games with HD graphics and I'd buy all of them in a heartbeat. Beast Within was originally all FMV, but I wouldn't mind something animated, a la the Telltale adventure games.

The tone of this review sounds like a child who was forced to do something against their will, and now won't stop talking about how awful it was, even when everyone else had a good time.

The writer acknowledges this is a continuation of Rebels, and that he has seen Rebels... and then craps all over the show because if you haven't seen Rebels, Ahsoka is presumably not a good show. That's not being objective. That's being petty.

Exactly what % of the SW fandom is going to be interested in Ahsoka if they haven't seen Clone Wars or Rebels? And even if you haven't, there's enough context clues to follow along. (Not unlike Andor, which also required some context to fully enjoy.)

This writer clearly has an axe to grind against Disney and/or the SW IP. So he put on his sassy pants and phoned in the review.

The show isn't an instant classic -- very little of SW is, tbh -- but it's by no means a 2.

I mean, these are great and all. But there are 2TB Gen4 NVMe's you can pick up right now for under $80, and the performance gain with the Samsung is probably negligible on PS5 or XBSX. Heck, there are 4TB versions for less than the 2TB Samsung.

Unboxed my Ally today. Haven't had a chance to play any games on it yet, but I'm sorta underwhelmed by the packaging and the design thus far. My unit was covered in dust and little black fibers from the other packaging in the box. The plastic wrapping around the Ally itself was practically falling off. If I didn't know better, I'd say I got a used item, but it was definitely factory-sealed.

My right stick is considerably looser than the left one. Not sure if this is by design, but I'd be interested to hear from other Ally owners if they have the same experience.

Also, much like the Steam Deck, I really dislike the position of the USB-C connection (both are on top). It's just awkward positioning. But the Ally loses marks for having the volume buttons too easy to press, as picking up the Ally pretty much guarantees you will press the volume buttons accidentally.

Hopefully the gameplay is worth it, because out of the box the Ally doesn't impress.

No real need to install the hi-res textures on Steam Deck, which will save you ~50% on the install size (45gb vs 90gb).

@rizenstrom: What's funny is in the olden days of cable/satellite TV, you would pay per channel. Companies, seeing the profit being earned, all started forming their own channels, which got expensive for consumers, who abandoned them. So cable and satellite companies struck deals with the channels so they could bundle them at more affordable prices. But over time the price crept up, so people started "cutting the cord" and going with streaming services.

Now consumers are right back where we started. Streaming services are popping up left and right. Many of them are creating compelling, "must watch" shows and movies, prompting consumers to sub to a variety of streaming services. And suddenly our monthly streaming bill is exceeding what we used to pay for cable and satellite. So now there's talk of consolidating streaming services and cross-licensing between providers. And the cycle continues.

There's only so much pie to go around because there are only so many people willing to pay for content. When companies compete for market share and demand their slice of the pie, this can only happen at the expense of other slices. So then you end up with 12 streaming services where you use to have 6.

Normally companies in a bloated market would compete on price. But in order to lure consumers, they have to create or license compelling content. This costs them more money, so their prices actually go up. Or they introduce service tiers -- creating a problem where none existed, and then selling the solution -- where you have to be a gold-level subscriber and pay extra to get certain popular content. (And these companies wonder why people pirate their shows and movies?)

Meanwhile, libraries continue to be free, and many of them actually now offer video rental and streaming for movies and TV shows via Hoopla, et al. Is it always the latest content? No. But let's be honest: how many people are actually watching current/just released shows vs binging stuff that's dated?

SW Fans: There's no depth or variety of storytelling in these new SW shows!

Also SW Fans: There are too many characters and storylines in these new SW shows!

What's funny is this has been the same attitude in the fandom since Empire came out.

Just do a Google search on these auction houses and you will see a pattern of very shady behavior. They did it with comics. They did it with video games. Now they're apparently doing it with VHS tapes.

If you seriously think a set of old VHS movies is worth $50k, then I have an NFT of the Brooklyn Bridge to sell you.
