@Super_dead90: Slap in the face?? just dont buy it. Your current console will play all the games in the future just fine, and look great doing it. Do you cry at every new cellphone that is released too? How about TV model, Car specs, etc....
PS4 is not being discontinued, games are still going to be made, you will have the exact same games, you need to learn to deal with it.
As for your games...those same discs will work just fine in the PS4K. Maybe they will even see a performance improvement with the new system. You dont need to rebuy your games.
@decebal: If you are expecting this thing to play the latest AAA graphically intensive games in 4k, you are setting yourself up for dissapointment. The differences you will more likely see are ps4 1080p 30fps ps4K 1080p 60fps and greater draw distance, or more debris, or more lighting effects. Where you will see 4k potential will be in games like minecraft, diablo, 2d platformers etc....
Will the increased price be worth a ps4K be warranted over a PS4? If i was to purchase one, i would say heck yeah......to a limit. I would say a $100 premium over the PS4 sku would be fair. Would i spend money if i already had a PS4? not unless i had the extra unused and available.
That being said, I sold my PS4 a year ago to put towards a 980ti and haven't really looked back.
The last great FF type rpg that i have seen was Lost Odyssey. It did sooo poorly on xbox360, but it was such a great game imo.
Sure it copied mechanics from other games, but so do they all. It was like they took all my favorite aspects of several final fantasy games and put the together.
Shame it never saw a PC release, but IMO it was the last great "traditional" Final Fantasy type game.
@Gamer_4_Fun: Agreed. Now maybe i missed something, but only games they want you to play can be played on the rift? I want something that any game on my hardrive I can play on the VR headset. I dont care if some games were not made for 3d (just clone the display in both eyes and have 2d experience, or do a virtual gaming room thing) I want to be able to take almost any title in my library and boot it up in the VR Headset. If i am locked into a proprietary ecosystem for games then i am out.
I want to be able to pop in any title i currently own and be able to play it. I do not want to have to buy Starcraft 2 again so i can play it in 3d on my headset.
I want to play Super Mario World using a controller in my VR headset. I want to play Diablo3 in 3d on my headset. I want to be able to watch any movie in 3d or not on my headset. I want my headset to be as open and free to use as i see fit as the monitor i have in front of me now.
And as we saw with nvidia 3d, I dont mind having a community fix the compatability issues it has with older games that will of course pop up. I am not expecting a perfect fit all solution. I just want something powerfull, and open to do with as i see fit.
If playstation wants to push the VR, Bring in a new version of playstation home, and make it VR. All those weirdos that were ready to throw themselves off bridges when they didnt bring it to ps4 will come flocking.
