Sounds pretty much about what I was expecting, something a little new and different, but a mixed bag. It sounds to me like the lack of NPCs' makes the game worse actually from everything I have read. I think a big part of the that is because it is different. Really Fallout 76 sounds part game, part experiment, for me it seems more of the latter judging on what I have read.

More than likely the game will evolve as they patch and add content if it is unsuccessful especially, and modders will attempt to make it a more traditional with bigger scope to add NPCs' and such to make it more like what we are familiar with.

I will probably wait quite a bit to pick this one up but will be following it's developments with great interest.

Love me a shooter with a good storyline to match! Even if it is campy. So many of the best shooters combine great level design, an interesting storyline, and solid mechanics. That is the winning recipe in my forty years gaming that I expect (or have since probably HL2) in today's FPS experience. Titles like this I am willing to not only invest money but time with so much more to play and not a lot of free time. Though I am probably not the demographic for this game or most games in particular of the genre. I enjoyed the proceeding Wolfenstein a lot for these reasons, glad to see they are going with the same formula and look forward to this being a preorder. Any word yet as to the intended campaign length?

@aegis_kleais: Sounds similar to SDCC now. That's the problem when these events are open to the public. Interest outweighs physics, crowds and lines ensue for exclusives and it becomes tedious for anyone other than the most patient of diehards.

Nice specs! Not sure I will blow the dust off either my xbox one or 360 to replace it with this little beast, at least not until I see what Sony has up their sleeves. Pretty sure the console war of the near future will be one of hardware one-upmanship. I mean it already is really. We've yet to be at parity with the current generation of consoles. It's funny though that Sony took the lead right off the bat with better hardware and the promise of better games this generation. And we're seeing that currently, Playstation is absolutely dominating with its successful, well regarded exclusives to be superior not only in hardware but software. Xbox has been relegated to a Minecraft/COD base for the pre-pubescent crowd by current comparison. Scorpion offers a glimmer of hope that Microsoft can turn it around if Sony drops the ball.
